Has anyone purchased and used the bluestar 2010 by costartech? This unit is $280 and it lets you integrate your bluetooth cell phone using your own minutes and your cell phone number through the cars factory installed onstar controls, mic, and speakers. I am curious if this is worth it and what some pros or cons you may have.
Also, I understand that the install is supposed to be as simple as just remove the onstar module from your vette and replace it with this module. Is that correct? and where is this onstar module located in the car?
I can't answer all your questions but I can tell you where the On-Star module is located. At the top of the passenger side inside the windshield. I'm not so sure it will be easy to remove but I will let someone else who knows more answer that question.
The box on the windshield is the Cellular Antenna and NAV Antenna for On Star. This has nothing to do with the GPS NAV System that's part of the Entertainment System.
The 'Brains' are mounted in the rear hatch/trunk area.
Personally, I would want to keep the two functions, personal cell phone and On Star, separate. Your cell phone can't unlock the car or automatically call for help if you are in an accident.
