Default Why change wheels?

I have the polished 5 spokes on my 07 VR vert. Decided that the Spyder wheels look nicer. The wife asked why I was changing the wheels. Told her because the Spyders looked better. She says how can you tell when the car is moving? Good question. Why do/did you change your wheels if you can only tell when the car is parked? The factory wheels don't look that bad.

why is it NOT important to like what you see when the car is stopped? it is to me. maybe not everyone else. the question for you is: is it important to you? if not, then you have your answer.

Ask her why she gets her tires rotated, don't they do that when she drives

I have different reasons for changing the wheels on my vehicles. Looks is one aspect but it is not the most important. Depending on which vehicle, a set of wheel could be selected from the standpoints of weight, load-carrying capability, price/cost, tire availability, change in dynamic aspect of driving/handling and the already-mentioned looks.

From looks standpoint, it doesn't matter whether the wheels are in motion or at rest. To be honest, most wheel spoke designs (not color or lip design) look about the same when in motion, they are all blurry. So, the wheel looks is for when the car is at rest.

It is a rare occasion that I get to see the wheels on any of my vehicles in motion which could be driven by someone else and I'm following or being narcissistic when driving along a reflective surface (glass, mirror, stainless-steel milk tankers, etc.). I do savor those rare moments.

I don't think it is possible to explain that to a wife. Mine doesn't understand any under hood mods and brings them up every time she wants to point out something dumb she thinks I did. I've had the wheel conversation on every car and truck I've ever owned.

What percentage of the time is your car moving? In most cases, your car is stopped 10 times as long as it is moving, therefore the 'look' when it is standing still (or moving VERY slowly) is much more important than what it looks like when it is moving.

When it's standing still you can admire it for a long time. When it's moving the longest anyone is going to see it will be very short.

Tell your wife that is just like mine.....buy a vette, be happy....don't waste money.

Not everyone feels this way, that's OK.....but I love my wife more than the wheels....I bet you do too. Wife ---> <---Me

However, if wife = then I am

You could just liken it to a simple gold band versus a nice sized diamond ring...the gold band serves the purpose of a wedding ring just fine...but which would she rather have?????

Some cars are art, and the C6 Corvette is one of those very few cars. Adding a better looking, and performing set of wheels, makes a C6, "your art", and that much more enjoyable to view and use.
Why does she have more than one pair of shoes, or jacket, dress, or suit?
