Default Engine without covers???

Has anyone ever removed fuel rail covers and painted valve covers red as well as coils red?? Do you have any pics .I'm thinking of doing this after seeing a KATECH engine pic.

So the stock FRCs serves no real purpose? They in fact retain unwanted heat? if that's the case I'm taking them off right now. I always thought they looked cheesy.

FRC= Engine Bling. Cars for the last 5-10 years have come with all sorts of plastic crap over the engines to make them harder to service and more visually sterile or aerodynamic from the top.

It would be interesting to see how much engine temp is raised with the FRC on vs. off both moving and stopped. I suspect stopped in traffic they do hold in more then their fare share of heat from the engine.

You bet they hold heat!! They serve 2 purposes> cover the engine to clean up looks, and quiet down motor a little! Same as underhood cover.HOLDS HEAT in AND COVERS THE UNFINISHED CRAP PAINT JOB ON UNDERHOOD ! Take a look under the hood liner ,mine had masking take,2 peoples initials and no clearcoat! REAL QUALITY FINISHING.Wonder what lies under hidden areas of our cars? Reminds me of 82 when I worked for a FORD dealer, customer complained about the "New car smell" BLAH Turned out a guy at the factory put a sandwich in heater core housing, and people wonder why guys went to buying Japanese cars!!!

i have had the covers off and they do hold in the sound of the engine a little but they really keep the injectors quiet as well.
As far as holding the heat and making your engine run hotter i think that's a misconception. The engine is designed to run at the correct temp and it will run better and get better gas mileage that way. If you want it to run cooler just swap out the t-stat,,,,,that along with the fans is what controls the engine temp anyway, taking the covers off or even the hood for that matter will not make the engine run cooler

Maybe ,but there is more of a chance of running cooler with them off

maybe they're also there so that the heat doesn't spread to the hood as much and wear out the paint on the hood prematurely?

You can get them powdercoated from Katech for $100 a piece. Here's the red ones.

They also have CF and unpainted.
