Default 2006 Convertable top

I was wondering if anyone has some experience with convertible tops.

The top on my 2006 just started acting up. When I attempt to lower it I disengage the lock and psuh it up and back a foot or so. I get a message that saids the top is still locked down and nothing happens.

Any advice?

Appreciate any help.

Hmmm, sounds like a trip to the dealer is in order just to read any codes that might be there. Generally, it sounds like a position sensor gone bad. It may just need adjustment.

Does anything happen if you push the switch in the other direction?

Sounds like the limit switch that is inside the hole where the top two pins go into the windshield frame. I can't remember which side it is on but if you look down into each hole, you will see it. Try pulling it a bit with a small screwdriver. It is probably just stuck closed.

and it's on the drivers side. You should see about an 1/8" of pin stricking up out of the switch housing. MAy be a red circle at the bottom of the pin showing it's out. Just lightly push on it to see if it engages and disengages. See what the messages says on the DIC about "top not secure" or if it functions properly when the pin is out.

There are several write ups if you search the General and Tech Forums. I have a pretty extensive one concerning mine.

Thanks for this thread folks. DIC said that header latch was not open, and of course the top would not go down. This post answered my question as to the problem. It's an '07, and still under warranty. So off to the dealer we go. May as well get the problem documented with them.
