Does anyone know if the nav system changed at all from the 2005 to 2010 models ? I have a 2005 model with nav and may order a 2010Grand Sport with nav. I have not seen a 2010 with nav yet so I can't determine if the graphics have improved or not. For 2005 they were all right but I think they look a bit coarse if they are the same in 2010. The new Cadillac nav system makes the C6 nav look a bit old.

The 2010 system is exactly the same as the 2005. The graphics and base architecture of the unit has not changed. It is still the same Denso unit. There have been a few firmware updates over the years 2006 got mp3 by default and an improvment to the audio out in 2008 (+3db boost) and interface software for the bluetooth in 2009. Software changed over the years. Hardware is still effectively the same for now.

Can the "interface software" be used with older hardware?
Does anyone know of a system that will integrate with our GM nav system? My 05 Acura TL has a factory, completely hands free voice recognition system. Works like a charm. I think there would be a market for the same thing in c6 Vetts as in aftermarket upgrade. I like both hands on the wheel.
My 2005 has the Nav unit in it and has option of MP3. Are you saying the MP3 was not available for tthe 2005 model? Do you know if a 2007 Nav disc will work on a 2005 Nav setup?

The original 2005 Nav did not support MP3 as delivered; here was a firmware upgrade issued that enabled MP3 support. Don't know if they started shipping 2005s with the update already installed towards the end of the model year.

Tim,
The 2005 initially did not have mp3 playback because as you likely have noticed, the performance between tracks was sluggish. There was a firmware update available from the dealer (and frankly, here on the forum) that you could install that would enable it. I have it on my 2005 nav as well.
Any year navigation disc will work in your 2005. I'm running version 5.0 from the 2009 model year currently and I've had each upgrade in between, they all work.

The C6 with a factory installed navigation system has a complete hands free (voice recognition) system. It is hit or miss as to how it likes any particular owners voice and reacts to it but it is there and worth trying.
