Virgin Corvette Experience
But I didn’t do it on my own. Thanks first to my supportive wife. Next, thank you all who are reading this for your invaluable information and opinions. You all really helped me make an informative decision in choosing how and where to purchase my car. This leads me to the next person to thank. What can I say about Tommy Jr. from MacMulkin that hasn’t already been said before? Not only did Tommy have the best price of all the forum members that sent me a quote, but his service is second to none. Many of you have had bad experiences at dealers but I won’t even go there. My father worked at a GM dealer for the better part of my life and I can honestly say I felt just as comfortable dealing with Tommy as I did with my own dad. Maybe even more comfortable with Tommy because it was strictly business. Tommy guided me all the way until delivery by responding quickly to ALL of my emails and phone calls. So Tommy if you are reading this, you’ve earned a customer for life. This was also my first time buying a car over the internet and dealing with Tommy was just as easy as making the deal in person.
I’m not going into details of my car because this post is about those who helped me make a dream come true. My wife, fellow forum members, Tommy Jr., and last but not least the staff at the corvette museum. I can only reiterate what has been said time and time again on this forum. They are a great bunch of people who actually care and genuinely show it. Everyone from Gary Cockriel and Lori Bieschke, our personal guide Gary Gaddis, the people in the museum shop, the man who detailed my car made it a point to meet me as well, and even the cooks in the café! Gary G. was gracious enough to answer all my questions at the factory. Gary C. was kind enough to assist us in installing our stretch mask for our 622 miles return trip.
We drove from NC to Bowling Green and the weather was great. The weather on our delivery date was fine as well. Our drive from Bowling Green back to NC was not so great. It rained the entire 11 hours. So much in fact that our temporary plate became water logged and fell off somewhere. Due to I-40’s detour and the imminent winter weather approaching from the north, we charted a different course which ultimately and unbeknownst to us, led high in the Appalachian Mountains to snow covered roads. We drove on snow, ice, sand, salt, just about everything but asphalt. You know, everything you don’t want to drive on. Well by the end of it we felt like mailmen, because all the rain, sleet, and snow couldn’t stop Storm. Who is Storm you ask? That’s the name even to my car by the man who detailed it. He named it that because while he was detailing it, a snow storm hit BG. Appropriately, we drove Storm 622 miles in a storm. The damages weren’t too bad. The tire wells and splash guards look like they have been sand blasted on the inside. But they did their job and protected the paint as did the stretch bra. As much heat as they take on this forum, I feel obligated to praise the lowly OEM runflat tires. Not once through all of that did they slip or give us cause for worry. Yes they are stiff and loud but ultimately they did their job which was to keep us safe.
So thanks again for all of your help and support, I know my experience was greatly augmented by those I’ve mentioned above. More pictures will follow but I have some more cleaning to do. As I washed it yesterday it began to snow again and I was vacuuming gravel out of the engine compartment today. But to keep this thread was being worthless here’s one pic.

The Grand Sport looks SOOOO much better in white than I could imagine! WOW! It's a beautiful car! I'm leaving Thursday morning for Kentucky to see my new black GS screwed together starting Friday...

Congratulations again! Enjoy yourself!
