Have my eyes on a 06 Vert but before I pull the trigger wanted some opinions from other Vert owners. I have never owned a convertible but excess noise, possible leaks and fading worry me a bit. Any info would be appreciated!
I have a 06 Vert with 25,000 miles that I purchased new and have never had a problem with excess noise, leaks or fading.
What my car has had a problem with is the headliner as it has gone through three so far with the current one needing to be replaced.
It also had the rear clutches and shifter replaced within 15,000 miles.
I put new Michelin tires on this summer which are quieter than the OEM's.
Other than the above oil changes and cleaning it.
I am glad I bought it and if I could do it over again I would still buy it.
I am waiting to see if the 2011 GS will have F55 as I have it now and like it. But I may not as my current Corvette has nothing wrong with it and I still love driving it.
My 06 has been perfect ,never been in shop.Pertty quiet I had a coupe ,vert much better push a button and top down no running around removing top placing in trunk than replacing ,nicking paint ,real pain in ***,of course several thousand dollars more.Tommy

Three headliners in 5 years? That does not seem quite normal. Garage kept or has it taken a beating with the elements? BTW, are they expensive?
There is a service bulletin out for some 2008 and 2009 Convertibles to install a new retainer bracket to keep the fabric roof from separating from the bracket near the top edge of the windshield. The need for the bracket is VIN dependent. In true GM fashion, if you don't complain by May 31, they will stick you with the bill.
I have had two C6 Convertibles, 2006 and 2008, and neither of mine had any issues with the convertible feature.
If you actually want to take the top down often and live someplace where you can, like on a short hop to the store, consider staying away from cars without a power top. There is nothing like being able to put the top up and down quickly, without getting out of your seat, and many people tend to use it more often because of the convenience.
I have a 07 Vert that I purchased new and have never had a problem with excess noise, leaks or fading.
No issues with the car.
Had a C5 Z06 prior, never had a Vert before. Love it!!!! Would do it all over again.
How true this is!! NevadaVette states: "There is nothing like being able to put the top up and down quickly, without getting out of your seat, and many people tend to use it more often because of the convenience." Love the power top

Always garage kept.
The only nights it has even been outside is driving back and forth to Florida which must total 10 or 15 nights for all of the trips I guess.
All of the headliners were replaced under warranty so I have no idea what a new headliner costs. If I keep it, I'll be finding out this spring.
The recall for my 08 vert was to add a strip on the forward edge. the letter said that the top could peel back at speeds of 100MPH plus, so I got It fixed ASAP, not that I travel at 100mph in the winter months, only in the summer and the top is down anyway.
The Vert is quieter inside than the coupe....leaking and fading shouldn't be a problem either. I have reinforced the headliner so that it will not wear through and its a great car.
This is a good reference thread on the top liner...including pics of what I did with mine.... http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-c...liner-rip.html
My only problem with my '06 vert is keeping my hair in place since the top is always down. Wait a second, I don't have much hair....so no problems at all with mine.
05 vert here, original owner. Not a single problem with the top at 23K miles. It is manual. But, this is the upteenth convert I've owned over the last 50 years, and they were all manual.
Jason - is Kruse's tavern still open ?
No issues other than TSB related Active Handling service and rear end fluid change.
Car is quiet, even more so with upgrade to Michelin runflats.
No leaks, top is tight. Use RaggTopp products to clean and protect the fabric if you are going to exppose it to the elements.
Pretty much the same experience with my very early '07 vert w/power top. I also recommend RaggTopp cleaner and treatment to keep my black top looking & working like new for many years.
