Default using GMPP

How many people recommend getting the GMPP.

Are we having so many issues with these cars that it is cost efficient or is it just the piece of mind thing.

My 07 vert is 3 years old in April. would like your input on this please.

GMPP.

No need for it on a Buick since they go for about 200,000 miles with just reg maint.
I purchased GMPP for my Caddy CTS for two reasons:
a. for resale enhancement and buyer level of comfort. (Closed the sale.)
b. CTS has had reports of possible expensive repairs (Some years had questionable rear ends; later years had a batch of bad timing chains.)
c. If I had a complicated full size vehicle, I certainly would purchase GMPP. Heck, struts can run you $600 each; window regulators can be $600. Computer problems are also expensive.

On a vette, look at the history of your repairs. Most vettes seem to be bullet proof. On the other hand, if you have a daily driver and drive it hard, I would look at GMPP. Keep in mind that it will make the sale of your car easier when you go to sell it.

Tricks for GMPP:
1. purchase it prior to 24,000 miles; very cheap if bought from preferred vendor or dealer who matches those prices.
2. purchase it prior to 36,000 miles. Better coverage is avail.
3. Take the zero deduct; it is only about $150 more or so.

The cost of GMPP on CTS (just under 24k miles) for an additional 3.5 years and an extra 40,000 miles cost me $830--a no brainer.

Yours will cost more because of age/miles on vehicle.

Good luck.

Right out of the gate, my C5 started having major problems, so I purchased the GMPP from Ken F. For that car, it was a smart choice, as I used it and it paid off much more then what it cost me. Good thing I listened to that little bird. I've had a couple of very minor problems with my C6Z, not enough to be concerned, so I have not purchased the GMPP.

With my Mercedes DD I had a bad battery early on but nothing else, so I didn't purchase an extended warranty for it either. It's now 11 years old, with 36,000 miles, and not a single problem.

I don't purchase extended warranties. The one time I did, the C5, the car gave me early warning that it was going to be a problem. I've purchased a lot of new cars over the years and most have been fairly trouble free, not costing me much in repairs.

My 2005 had some problems, it was not a good new vehicle. I won't go into details as that's been done. I purchased a GMPP from Fichtner around the 35th month. The car has been rock solid ever since I made the GMPP payment. It's insurance, I've got about a year and 8 months left, so hoonose I still could get my money out of it, but maybe noteddie

Piece of mind...My '05 has been a very good car but just recently the CD player started skipping. It was replaced under GMPP...$1900.00 list price for the radio if I would have to buy it. The door covering the mirror on my sun visor just broke...$348.00 list price (you have to buy the whole visor)...you see where I'm going? I paid $0.00 for these repairs.

Hey Hoosier,
You can find a GMPP for four years and 32000 miles for around $2000. Money well spent, just for the peace of mind. There are a lot of electronics on our cars that are expensive to fix. I don't know how many miles a year you will be driving? I went for 32K over four years for $1800 from a Chevy Vendor in Ma. Reps name was Noyes at Sudbay Chevrolet in Sudbay Mass.

You rang?

My '05 has already had 3X the cost of the extended warranty in repairs!
I still love the car, and will probably get the extended-extended warranty.
All from Fitchner of course!

For me it's a yes. It's having the piece of mind knowing you have coverage if or when something happens. And when you have a repair on a corvette it's very costly. Now the second rule of thumb, stash 2k in account instead. If you need the money for a repair it's their. The draw back on that is once you use it, it's gone. And you could roll the dice and hope for best, and maybe save 2k. I like to be on the safe side with this kind of car. Good luck on what ever you decide.

Sounds high.
Check out Fitchner here on the forum for what I'll bet would be a lower price.

I bought it in April and Fitchner was around $2200. Not a knock on Fitchner, He is a great vendor and has helped many on the forum. I wouldn't hesitate to do business with him.

That's exactly why I bought my GMPP... If I'm paying for the warranty, my luck says I'll never have to use it, and the money will just have been for peace of mind. If I didn't buy it, I would have problems as soon as the car's out of warranty.

Really though - for me the $700 is worth the peace of mind down the road. I don't expect anything to break, and I've only had 1 real issue with my 2007. But for me, it's better to pay the $700 now while the money's available, than be faced with a big repair when I'm not expecting it.

I do not know where some of these prices are coming from BUT NOT FROM ME. I have no 48 month/32,000 mile plans that approach the $2,000 price range even with 35,000 miles. This really confuses me as to pricing mentioned but please email me your VIN and current miles to dfichtner@fichtnerchevrolet.com for you own GMPP pricing on YOUR own car.

Thanks to the many of my customers that recommend me every time a GMPP item is brought up.
