OK, so I bought a Z06 in Virginia. I can fly in this weekend and drive it back to northern MI. The weather is predicted to be clear, sunny and snow/rain free the whole way on Fri/Sat.
The question I have is will the dry salt on the roads harm my car if I drive straight home on it, then give it a good washing when I get home?
It'll hurt it immensely. Let me drive it up for you when the weather clears. Just pay for my ticket home. I promise to not speed, not drive too fast, not shift too hard, nor enjoy it at any time. Honest!
Much appreciated. I know full winters of salt, slush, sand, etc. up here along Lake Superior ruin vehicles in just a few years, thus my paranoia about driving my new toy in so much as a sprinkle of road salt.
If you wash it as soon as you get home, I can't see how your car would be hurt at all.
More likely to get a nick or two from road dirt/rocks.
I would suggest a temorary bra until you can get a clear one on. Lots of debris on the roads this time of year. Watch out for the pot holes rims are expensive.
considering you're in the UP, hard to imagine there isn't feet of snow on the ground! you should be fine just do as others have said above. have a safe trip.

LOL, normally we'd be buried still. But this winter has been an anomaly among anomalies.
The roads are bare, south-facing hillsides and even ditches are showing bare ground. It's like mid-April in early March!
I would be sure to put a front nose cover on due to the salt, sand, gravel and other such winter road treatment material being hurled at great speed from the car or truck infront of you.To repaint the front nose is not cheap. Otherwise no harm should be done.
