Default $$$65555!!!

New GS coupe,2 tone interior just dropped off at the dealer up the block.Looks like a 3lt.Damn,prices have gone up! I love the look up close and personal and it was CRM which looks very nice. I forgot if it's a A6 or mz6. I guess I'll need to wait for a used one to show up in a couple of years because I can't do 65 grand, even at a 15000 dollar discount it would still be 50!!

And that is why I bought my C6 "used". Don't get me wrong, I LOVE a new car (and I love the GS), but when I bought a three year old C6 with under 5000 miles on it for about $10K less than a dealer quoted me on an '09, I knew I'd made the right call.

I love me some LS3 and all, but $10K is $10K.

Yes and you're not going to get a $15,000 discount on a new Grand Sport anytime soon.

I would guess you might be able to find one at $7500-$8500 discount right now, for one priced at $65k.

Corvettes seem to drop real hard on price for the first two years and then they seem to hold their value.I bought my used 08 vert 3lt,nav,crm,2 tone int, A6. Car was 6 months old, bought it in Jan 09 with a list price of 68k and I paid 38k. I am starting to see a few used GS vettes for sale but the price is still high, will probably come down once the 2011 are introduced, so I am waiting till Dec or Jan to buy one.

I bought my 05 in 08 forgot the model ..same as LS3 all the bells & whistles... I paid $32000... the car had 6000 miles on it and was 3 yrs old.. now its 6 yrs old with 16000 miles on it, + some mods I wanted (which did not increase its resale value) and I'm guessing I could get $28-$29k the car looks better than new...

So I lost the most $5000 in 3+ years...& no one can tell my car from an 09..it runs as well, & I'm happy with it + I think I saved a boatload of $$$....

And there are people in here who wonder why new Corvette sales flat out suck right now.

$120,000.00+ ZR1s

$80,000.00+ Z06s

$65,555.00 grand sports

GM is going to have to concentrate on models in the price ranges which are going to stimulate people to buy if they want to sell Corvettes. And introducing a model with a price tag moving into the $65,000.00 range, while there is already an $80K plus Z06 and a $120K plus ZR1 in the lineup, in this economy, was not the way to stimulate sales. And the terriblr sales figures prove it.

There are many of us in here who can afford any Corvette we want, but GM is pricing this car out of range for too many people.

More accurately, they are concentrating too much on producing a $#** load of the high priced models and not enough on the more affordable ones.

They are making more grand sports at the BG plant, than anything else, and with prices approaching this range, already we have people right in this thread who say they will sit this one out. That's why there are about 1000 grand sports currently sitting on dealer lots unsold, because too many of them are priced out of the range which would encourage people to open their wallets.

Sales suffer as a result, and before you know it, the whole damn Bowling Green works will go down the drain, and there won't be any new Vettes to buy at any price.

Bought my GS at $9300 off MSRP (inc GM card rebate), was cheaper than a used 2007 Z06 that was my other choice. Pretty good deals for cars that have been on the lot. I am perfectly happy with 1LT too, so I save another $10K by not buying special upolstery, HUD and NAV. I wish I had chrome wheels though, I will pick up a used set some time in the future and a transparent top too.

I don't think it's all about the price.
Sure, it doesn't help if someone can not afford a 3LT optioned car, but there's plenty of new 1LT Vettes out there.
Can't blame GM if the dealers are ordeing fully loaded 65-70K cars to put on their lots
IMO it still has a lot to do with the economy and people not being able to finance like a few years ago.
I'm not saying there's anything wrong with buying used and saving money.
Everyone has their limits and new isn't always the way to go.
But the economy has pushed a lot more people down into the not affordable range.
I looked at used ones for a long time but the price difference from used to new wasn't enough for me personally and bought new.
Prices go up every year but 12 months ago before the GS came out a fully loaded Vert still listed out at 70K.
It's the economy and what people are Not willing to spend their money on in tough times.

looks like I'll be doing the GS fender swap WAAAAY before I throw down $70k for a GS Vert. I'd NEVER buy one of these cars new, doesn't make sense IMO. Almost did....common sense kicked in pretty dang quick.

Lots of choices in the used market because so many Corvette owners will buy a new one when GM adds something like Bluetooth or "improved steering". I'm sure glad there's always someone out there to take that hit on the first year of depreciation so that I don't have to.
