Just wonder if the 6A paddle shift control works like the triptonic in a Porsche or Audi? Shifting with out the clutch peddle that is!
The A6 is an Automatic Transmission with a torque converter, there is no clutch. The paddles are just an alternate way to select the gears, kind of like an older auto transmission with a shift kit.
The audi transmission has no torque converter. It has 2 clutches. One is for gears 1,3 and, the other for 2, 4 and 6. When you switch into one gear the computer has already preselected the next gear based on what the computer thinks you are doing. Unfortunately the A6 does not come close to the performance of the dsg. I got rid of an audi tt 3.2 dsg after 4 years just before I bought my 2009 C6 A6. I love my Corvette but the transmission is light years behind. Put a dsg like trans in the vette and it would be crazy. Except for when my transmission stopped shifting into gear and the small part that malfunctioned was attached to a bigger part which cost $4,000 and was not available from germany for 7, yes 7, weeks.
I just sold my Audi S4 auto with tiptronic, and it was in my option way better that my 09 z51 paddle shift. I would like to get a tune on the tranny, but do not want to screw with my warranty yet.
