My first Vette I bought off the dealership lot. Did museum delivery with this one and I loved it. The museum itself is worth the trip, but the tour of the factory was just awsome. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
Not sure I understand this. One of the reasons I did it was it allowed me to choose from dealers all over the country for negotiating price. There was no way on God's green earth I could have gotten the car from anybody within 750 miles of me at anything close to the price I got it at. My savings more than paid for the Museum delivery, and it turned out to be an awesome event.
As somebody else previously mentioned, and I absolutely concur, who do you want preping your car. A dealer that does 2 a year or a guy that does nothing but corvettes.
No disappointments
I just got my new GS at the museum this past Monday and it was the thing that made this delivery nothing but SPECIAL
The people there could not be more helpful and the one on one tour is great
The one thing that I really liked was that your guide gives you a personal delivery of the car and goes over EVERYTHING on it. A dealer would just toss ya the manual and you could spend 3 hours figuring out how to set it all up just to leave the lot.
This really ought to be a mandatory option as you will never forget it
I think this is the first negative comment I have ever heard about the museum delivery.
Only if they did the tour is it valid.
I did both, the buyer and museum. (My ego really needed stroking.....) There is nothing like seeing your car built.
As to the prep, if they find a flaw at the museum, they swap parts. If your car needs repair at the dealer, like as in a paint defect, it gets refinished.
The final test inspector during the build tour asked me if I was also picking it up at the museum. This was while we were sitting in my car at the diagnostic running station were they hook the car onto the computer and run it up to 70 MPH to see if everything checks out. His comment was you will not get a better quality car than thru the museum.
I agree that you get the BEST car there. I took mine to a well known detailer and he told me hat he just had 2 new Z06's that were from local dealers that had bad swirls in the paint and had to be buffed out for a good price...whereas mine is PERFECT from the museum delivery
I just took the factory tour + museum this past Wednesday and wow...pretty impressive to see that many vettes on the line
best part was hearing a ZR1 start for the first time....damn that car is hot!
back to NCM delivery....its on my bucket list....but I wouldn't want to drive the car home from there..(whats the break-in procedure?) I'd rather just truck it home.
I wonder if they assist with shipping?
wait...there's an additional $400 buyer's tour fee? (in addition to the museum delivery fee)
Did my second R8C last Monday (3-8-10). Great experience, both times. Especially now, everyone thanks you for buying the product.
And I thank them for doing such a good job.
I think they label your car as it comes down the line so that everyone will know it's for Museum Delivery.
Great people, great experience....I'll do it again.
I am happy to read all the positive comments about the Museum Delivery and my condolences to the guy with the negative comment.
I have not ever experienced it, but Monday, March 15th, I will experience the Museum Delivery 1st Hand for my new GS and will give my opinion that evening.

Well, Monday is over. How was it? Is it worth it? I am ordering mine tomorrow and I need to decide what to do. I'm worried about a few things. First is the break in period. I live in Colorado and would want to make the trip home in two days. That means I would have to drive really slow the first day and go like hell the second day.
I'm also ordering the Heritage package on the grand sport. Do they install the fender stripes? I know they won't install the PAL but I can get that done when I get home. Let me know what you think!

ABSOLUTELY worth it!! We are so impressed with the folks at the Museum, words really cannot describe the experience. Our appointment was for 10:30AM, March 15th. We arrived and was treated like royalty when we walked through the door. Our NCM guide met us at our TR GS Coupe and once I wiped the huge smile off my face, we walked to the office to comlete the necessary paperwork, then our guide drove us over to the GM Corvette plant where we spent 2 hours touring the plant. Our guide had excellent knowledge of the production process and extensive knowledge of the plant. Our guide even arranged for me to start a newly assembled Corvette. They then drove it to the next station.
After the plant tour, we drove back over to the Museum and began the detailed delivery process. Our guide reviewed every detail of the Corvette's features and overlooked as I set up many of the features.
This took about 1.5 hours.
This experience was a first for us and I would highly recommend the Museum Delivery. It was a day that we will never forget..................
The stripes or hash marks are installed by the Museum folks or the dealer, whichever you choose.
Good luck and I will post some pics in a few days.
Does making a comment like that pump your ego? Have you ever done R8C? I really doubt it. If you have, explain your remark.
I suspect that you are correct with your remarks. Granted that there have been those that have done museum delivery and found it to be less than worthwhile, but I sincerely believe those folks are in a very small minority compared to those that have had overwhelmingly positive and exciting experiences with the NCM delivery process. My wife and I have combined our two separate deliveries with mini-vacations of sightseeing the region within a 100 mile radius of Nashville/BG. We took full advantage of being there!!! You can't look at the $$s and cents of the R8C option - it is the experience that you want to have combined with taking delivery of your new corvette is what really counts.
As promised, here are a few pics of our Museum Delivery. A positive experience.
Congratulations on the new ride and your NCM delivery. My wife became a corvette convert when she saw a Monterey Red convertible with cashmere interior beige top mating together on the assembly line back in Feb 2006. I promised to buy her one with NCM delivery for the next year. Hence how we now have HIS and HER vettes - Beauty and the Beast!!!!
Do the buyers tour to watch your car being built....also arranged thru the NCM. I enjoyed that even more than the Museum delivery.
THE Buyers Tour is AWESOME!!!It really gives you a real connection with your car on a personal level.....That was a definite ego boost for me..Of all the cars that are ordered every day,how many of the new owners get the opportunity to walk along side of it during the assembily process...You will remember that for the rest of your life..
