Default Is it faster?

So I just placed my order yesterday for a 2010 Grand Sport with the A6 transmission. I had an 02 coupe with the performance rear end previously.

Will there be a noticeable difference in acceleration or can't you really tell?

I figure with a few more horses there should be but who knows, the A6 might lose more power through the driveline than the A4.

You will notice a big difference between a 350 HP 5.7L LS1 C5 and a 436 HP 6.2L LS3 C6. The A6 will help also as it will be geared lower plus the extra gears, which will keep the engine higher up in the power band.

The first three gears(where most of your acceleration will be)...

A4 w/3.15...

3.06 X 3.15= 9.639(final gear ratio)
1.63 X 3.15= 5.135
1.00 X 3.15= 3.150

A6 w/2.73...

4.02 X 2.73= 10.975
2.36 X 2.73= 6.443
1.53 X 2.73= 4.177

As you can see the torque multiplication in each of the first three gears will really help the car accelerate.

We had:
2001 A4 Coupe w/performance axle, replaced by
2006 A6 Coupe no performance axle available that year, replaced by
2009 A6 Coupe w/performance axle.

To me, the improvement from 2006 to 2009 was even bigger than the improvement from 2001 to 2006.
You will be a very happy camper!

The '10 GS will destroy your old '02 and not just in acceleration. carry on.

Default Congratulations...

Wow, you got rid of that '02 quick. Hope you got a reasonable price on both the sell and the buy.

Not an expert on gearing. All I know is while I'm happy with the 07 I just bought, I'd expect a little more acceleration off the line. Obviously, I can get it with the paddle shift, but 400hp is still a lot, so I don't really get it.

Enjoy your new GS.

A6 GS will rip the doors off your A4 '02...Probably 3/4 of a second faster in the 1/4 too and half a sec faster 0-60!

Don't know about the automatic, but I had a manual 02 and now a manual gs, and hell ya there's a difference. The torque just over powers the traction control when you get on it. And I'm not talking about launch control, I'm just talking about pulling out of the drive way, accelerate a little hard, and the tires are breaking loose. You will enjoy.

Hey buddy, I picked up my G/S on thurs 02- 04-10, I shipped to Lingenfelter Performance the following monday. They did the first factory dyno pulls on it a few weeks ago, the LS3, with the a-6 trans, put down 376hp to the rear wheels, thats pretty damn good, We thought it wouldve lost more through the driveline but man were we shocked when i heard 376,so yeah your gonna really be smilling when you get it, enjoy stay safe.

Big difference is an understatement. Not that your 02 was slow, but wait till you feel this LS3.

I sure hope so! I live in Denver and the altitude really hurts the power. My 02 couldn't break the wheels loose unless it was below 40° out.

Not that I want to break the wheels loose but I want to be able to have something that is a little edgy. Plus I had Corsa and a black wing on the 02 so the horse power gain is probably more around 45-50. That is still pretty nice though!!

I just got my order number today and I now need to look into the best way to do museum delivery. Airline tickets, rental car and so on.

Your new GS should have about as much straight line acceleration as any LS3 C6 since it has the same engine.
