LS3, You can always upgrade the interior, wheels, stereo, etc. later on when you have some extra cash.

It's nice to have the newer car, but then again it's nice to have the car you want with all of the options you want. I wish I knew a little more about vettes before I bought mine and did what you are doing by coming in here and asking questions. I probably wouldn't have gotten a base 1LT model when I could have gotten a 3LT for a little bit more. Not that I am unhappy with my vette (I absolutely love it) but I didn't realize there were so many versions of the vette out there. Just ask yourself if you can live without some of those options on the 3LT model and if so then get the newer one. I am going to assume (since you don't mention) that the 06 is in great shape with low miles so you're probably not missing out on a whole lot if you decide to go with that one over the 08.

Good luck with your decision and just remember whichever one you go with you'll be getting a great car in the end.

08 without a doubt. I used to have one and I really liked it. Besides the LS3, you get new FOBs, better center console, a better transmission (TR6060) that is beefier than its predecessor, IMO more attractive wheels, and I'm sure there are some things I am forgetting. If you start modding, a LS3 with headers, CAI, and tune will put you where a cammed LS2 with the same mods would get you, and should run with a stock C6 Z06.

To each their own, but personally I prefer base cars. They are by far the best value, and I have never missed or wanted any options. Beside being the lightest, base cars let you focus on the task at hand: driving!

I have a friend who would pass on both if he could have a 54 Hudson instead. You are the only person who can answer the question of what you want. Do you want features or a slightly newer car? I would go for the features since both are great cars but that is just my choice.

Just go with the best deal you can find... you can always add NAV, HUD or the other "major" 3LT options to a base 08 or add the 08 upgrades to an 06.

Meh. Buy the newest you can afford. The seats and stereo are better in the 1LT's anyway, I hear.

(I really like my 06 3LT)

No brainer, get the '08. The 1LT is lighter, has less to go wrong, has the most comfortable seats, the best sounding sound system, and If you want a sports car, the 1LT is the best choice anyway.

Differences from '05 to '08.

I don't see the appeal of the upper options packages, none of it is really performance related, and some of the stuff really belongs in a Lexus more than a vette. If those two cars were the same price, take the 08 for sure... but I would expect the 06 to be cheaper...

I agree with "get the newer one". I do not need all the new hi tech gadgets. On the other hand, things like: HUD, telescoping wheel, heated seats, and memory seats are all worth having. Good luck on your decision.

Clearly I'm a club of one but I'd go with the more heavily-equipped car. While I certainly won't dispute the sweetness of the LS3 engine, I'd be willing to bet that the majority of drivers can't feel a seat-of-the-pants difference between it and the LS2. Even those who can would say that the difference is slight. On the other hand, the added benefits of HUD, memory, heated seats, side air bags, and navigation (if the 3LT car has it) are pretty dramatic.
