I am considering putting Flowmaster exhaust part # 17427 on my 2006 C6. Does anyone anything about this set-up? I am concerned about the tone since I have never heard them. They are a series 50 muffler.
I have them on my 2005 C6 Z51. They are relatively quiet at a cruise speed but under acceleration they howl. At idle they make a nice burble. Starting up they let you know there is something under the hood without being obnoxious about it. Check out Youtube.
I have them on my 05 vert. I like them. They have a nice rumble that is not too obnoxious for me. Definitely better tone than stock. There is a little bit of resonance between 1500 - 1900 rpm but not nearly as bad as some of the other aftermarket exhausts.
For the money, I don't think there is a better choice.
I had FMs (part # unk, they were 2 single tips) on my '07 and they sounded great but dont fit so well on the OEM h/pipe. They are modified truck mufflers (40/50? Series I believe). They were a tad uneven out back.
When I switched from OEM h/pipe to ARH x/pipe my installer/tuner told me how crimped and banged up they were on the initial install and as a result they fit horribly on the ARH too, had a minor leak and were really crooked out back .
I now run SLP Loudmouth II's
So... if you ever plan on headers DONT buy the FMs

great sound on my 2005 with 59K miles. The resonance is not earth shattering and since I run a lot of Interstate miles at 73 mph which is around 1500 rpm I get very little of the resonance.
What I do get is a great sound for a great car.
Had them installed on my 05 Z51 at 8K miles. I currently have 24K and am pleased with the choice. They "lite-up" on full acceleration but are not too loud, in my opinion.
As for the dreaded drone, you'll get it around 1600 rpm, the good news is the state of the art Bose system drowns it out

I had them on an '06 MN6 Z51 convertible and really liked the sound. Deep old school tone. However, installation was a b*tch. You get what you pay for. Fit is poor and the clamps supplied are not great. Part of the problem is FM pipes are not slotted and it makes it difficult to compress and get a tight slip fit connection.
If you decide to get them, follow the install instructions and after you get them lined up TACK WELD all connections or they will move on you. Also, be very careful about clearance between the passengers side over the axle pipe and frame/transmission. Too close to either one and they will bang against it in hard turns. Good luck.
