Default Which Shocks?

Is it worth the money to put Bilstiens or any other recommended shocks on your C6? I put Z51 sways front and rear and non-runflats. The car has changed from beating me up on every bump and skipping and sliding in hard turns do to the OEM hard Goodyears. My vette is truly a pleasure to drive now.

Will it improve more with a set of good shocks? If so which one's. I want a nice ride but with good cornering ability. I have no real complaint with the stock shocks with 27k on them but if I can improve things why not!

Thanks everyone!

I personally like the Koni FSD's. A bit more expensive but well worth it. The base shocks allow for to much front end wondering up and down. I too went with Z bars and non run flats. You will really like the FSD'S.

F-55 shocks but they will cost a fortune but probably aren't compatible to your car.

Put the Koni FSD's on one month ago and lovin them. Flatter in corners and bit more forgiving than Z51 shocks on rough pavement.

What kinda money are the Konis and any product source recommendations?

Is there a noticable difference you will feel right away or is it close to stock? I guess my question is bang for the buck is it worth doing or should I invest in something else?

I am in the process of putting Z51 sway bars front and rear with poly bushings. I have the Bilstein Sports in the car ready to put on after the new paint job. A couple of my Red River Vettes buddies have Koni FSDs and swear by them. I just couldn't justify more than double the price for Koni's over the Bilstein's. Been doing a lot of mods this year. Got mine from Tire Rack for about $680. I noticed a difference right away, especially on rought pavement, rear-end not at skiddish.

someone about a month or so ago said they'd seen the FSDs on sale right around or just under 600 for a full set. can't comment on whether any of them are worth it since I still have my Z51 shocks, and like them.

Go with the Bilstein HDs..... takes the car to a whole new level and save some money over the Konis. Koni is an excellent shock but no need to spent the extra couple of hundred dollars.

I'm going to add aftermaket shocks on a GS. For a GS or Z51 the recommended shocks are either the Bilstein Sports or Koni FSD. For a car with the base suspension Bilstein HD is recommended.

Reading past threads the Koni's will lower the car about .5".

Have not decided between the Koni's or Bilstein Sports yet. Also plan on installing poly bushings in the sway bar mounts at the same time.

I had the Koni's on my C5 for 5k until I went coil overs and then I put them on the base C6 with Z51 bars and this is a great DD combo that we have over 15k on the C6 with them, they cost more but the ride is worth it

Can someone explain how a shock can lower your car? The spring carries the weight. The shock just adds damping.

And softer initial dampening setting. The FSD shocks dampens stronger as the load increases.

Another quality option that no one has mentioned are the QA1 shocks. Very adjustable (and easily) and a huge improvement.

They are spot on and as you drive harder the shocks are up to the task and when you put around town the ride is very smooth even with the fatter Z51 bars installed
