I opened the door on my C6 today, rolled up the windows, and closed the door. When I shut the door the window did not go down enough to clear the roof and it bounced off and did not close. This has happened to me a couple of times before and I do not know whats causing it. It seems to only happen when I roll the windows up after I open the door. Has anyone else ever had this problem?
I'm only guessing because I've never done that but.....yea, I think it's just confused because you put the windows up "after" opening the door. It doesn't know where it's supposed to be. We'll see what others say.
Agreed...when you open the door it indexes the window down to clear...when you put the window up before closing the door, the window still thinks it's in the indexed position.
I do not believe that there is any mechanism for the window to index down again as you shut the door.
So the simple answer is something like
"Doctor...it hurts when I do this"...."then stop doing that"
I think if you stop putting the window up when the door is open that it should work fine.
You need to re-index your windows..Instructions are in the owners manual...Simple to do...Roll the window(s) down....with the door closed, roll the window up, and hold the switch in the up position for three seconds....release the switch...now, hold the switch in the up position again for three more seconds...Your window(s) should be properly indexed...
thanks for all the input...Ive been making it a point to roll the windows up before I open the door and it has not happened to me again. I guess that was it.
...
NEVER, NEVER, NEVER roll the windows up or down after you've opened the door. Only move the window when the door is closed.
My recollection is that we've parked our C6 several times with the windows open, opened the doors, raised the windows either with the engine still running or "Accessory", then killed the power and closed the doors. There has never been a problem with the windows hitting the weatherstripping.
This is on a 2006 and now a 2009.
I am always careful to release the window switch instantly when the glass is fully up.
There have been occasional instances of the windows losing their "up" indexing but not immediately after raising them with the door open. I wonder if there is some issue that is more complex than simply "don't mess with the windows when the doors are open." ???
I got to thinking about this and I was sure that I had put a window up when the door was open in the past. I just went out and tried it with both windows and it does not disturb the window indexing at all. The car knows when the door is open so it will stop the window from going all the way up when the door is open. Then when I close the door, the window indexes up to the final closed position. Perhaps if the door was opened with the emergency lever on the floor, and the car did not know that the door was open, then this could mess up the indexing function....just as it will cause the alarm to go off.....
I think you need to re- index your windows and see if that fixes it...you should not have to tiptoe around the car being careful not to open or close windows at the wrong time....The car is smarter than that.
