There was a thread about a year ago about a C6 that it's transverse leaf spring failed. The cause was the exhaust cutouts. The exhaust heat from the cutouts actually melted the leaf spring. Point being; consider where all that hot exhaust is being directed if you use cutouts.

To the OP.......I think the best advice is to listen to the different exhaust systems, both headers and axel back, and only axle back. Since the weather is turning nice, car show season will be starting soon and you should be able to listen to alot of different systems from accommodating owners. Take your time and explore all the possibilities.

I remember that thread, and the picture posted in it you could clearly see the cutouts were directly 'breathing' on the rear leaf spring. I blame the mechanic for installing it that way.

Another thing that you could do is the "muffler mod." You would cut open the mufflers and remove the packing and then wrap the baffle tube with some thin sheet metal. So when the valves are closed it will be a little louder, and then the valves are open it is pretty much a straight pipe. I think cars with that the cars sound pretty mean with that done to them.
i just checked those modded mufflers out & they sound bad ***! that's just what i wanted! i how many hours to do that? i site said like 5 hours?

Yeah that is about what it takes to do them. Takes about 15 mins to get them out of the car and then you have to cut them open and wrap them. If you are going to do them yourself, make sure that you are handy with a cut off wheel and butt welds. It is a pretty straight forward mod, and it sounds great.

Not 100% sure but I think the muffler mod is for the Z mufflers. I was told that the fabrication basically turns THEM into the NPP muffler. The reason the Z has the interior perforated pipe was to quiet the vehicle down a little from what the Z with the NPP system would not pass OEM decebel sound levels at the factory.

Like a lot of these half baked mods done in here, this one resulted in disaster.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-t...ing-today.html

Forget the long tubes unless you are going to be doing other mods and tuning.

Also,larry_chip, just a tip, if you have a Z06, better to post up your questions in the Z06 section of the forum.

Check out the Akrapovic systems as well, in titanium or stainless for control of the exhaust baffles.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-z...st-system.html

The titanium systems are steep in price, but they have come out with a stainless one.

Good luck.

You already have a great exhaust system, buy a Mild to wild controler for < $100, you're done.
