Default Llumar paint protection?

I am looking to get some sort of clear paint protection installed. I found an installer around here, that will do bumper, mirrors, lights, and hood for $450 with Llumar.

Never heard of Llumar is it a good product? And I've gotten quotes for 3M clear bra, and they were near the $900-1000 mark. Why the difference in cost?

The older Llumar film is not a good film. Evidently they have a new film out that is supposed to be more durable and smoother. It just came out though so there really isnt any durabilty testing on it... real world. I have some on order I am going to install... when I am satisfied it has held up well I will promote it. If it doesnt I will continue using VentureShield Ultra.

As far as Llumar goes, the new generation of film looks great, we have it on our bumper. With being a newer film on the market the durability hasn't quite been proven over time, but after about 5 months on our car it still looks like the day it was installed. Make sure its the new Llumar since we have heard, too, that the older Llumar wasn't good.

As far as the price difference: Good installers aren't cheap and Cheap installers aren't good. Plain and simple.

Look here for Motorcop71's bad experience (Post #10) with a cheap install. Since this industry is 90% service, it's not like a toaster that you get at Walmart or a more expensive store, it's the same toaster. With service, experience makes all the difference. Like buying a Corvette instead of a Chevette, you pay more & get more car.

We can't say this installer is a bad installer, but 99% of the time there is a reason they are so cheap. With someone's profit margin that low, odds are they will rush to make it up in time & do multiple jobs in a day poorly instead of doing one very nice job with a higher profit.

imo, post #17 by norm in "look here" is very informative. and by the word "service" he doesn't mean being courteous. he means the ability to do the installation correctly. and that is where the film material almost doesn't count if they mess up the paint on the car or the product itself. what you need is recommendations from satisfied customers---not ones who just got it done---from a year or two having the installation on their car.
