Default Steering Wheel Wrap Cracking....

I have a 08 that just turned 5,000, is garage kept and only driven for pleasure. It gets the best of treatment!

I just noticed that on the right side of the steering wheel the leather (?) wrapping on the steering wheel is scaling and cracking!! Almost like it has dried out.

I know the "leather" on the seats have been a sore point for Corvette owners, but now the steering wheel??

Has anyone else noticed this problem? It's not just cosmetic, since you can feel it with your hand and if very distracting.

It's still under bumper-to-bumper warranty so I will get it by the dealership to see what they say.

Default steering wheel issues

MY 07 steering wheel is losing its black dye on top. It is grayish and it becomes sticky when your hand perspiration dampens it.
The lower part looks fine. It almost looks as if it is not real leather.

Hello,

I do apologize for the trouble you are having. If your vehicle is under warranty still, I would suggest taking it in and having checked out. If there is anything I can look into for you, please let me know.

No, never wear a ring. No obvious cause other than the "leather" is cracking.
