Coupe top separation
and the creaking noise hadn't diminished one iota.
When I got home that night, I checked the top more thoroughly.
I discovered that the front of the roof panel had separated from the frame!
I called the local Chevy dealer and explained the situation. The service
rep. then asked for the VIN number. Apparently, my '06 is covered
by an 'open' service bulletin.
Monday I take the car to the 'collision' center so they can verify the condition and take pictures of the top. Once verified, they'll order a new top and paint it to match my car. The collision manager said this will be a 'no charge' fix!

Fortunately, I have the 'clear' top to use while I wait for a new painted top.

The original owner took the car in for a roof panel inspection and no problem was found in 2007.
I found that information in a VIS report I got from a Chevy dealer.
I prefer to look of the painted top on my car. So, I'm anxious to
get the new top. I just hope this isn't a long, drawn-out process...

I thought everyone with the solid tops got them fixed years ago. Sort of like axle nuts, pulley bolts, and non-matching head numbers.
