gauge problem?

Perhaps the tanks are working properly but the gauge is messed up.
Doing a Search for gas gauge problems will get you a couple of days worth of reading.
If you get overwhelmed by info, try this:
1. Run down to about 1/4 tank (use odometer to be sure), then add a bottle of Techtron or GM Fuel System Treatment as you fill up with Top Tier gas. Don't overfill. Run that down to 1/4 again and repeat.
2. Some of the C6's needed a reprogram of some kind to help the fuel gage work properly, find out about that.
3. If they actually need to pull the tank(s), bend over and grab your ankles. This is gonna hurt.
My C5 did that just once and never repeated, hopefully yours will be the same.

then the gauge shows full!

I can't imagine any situation where you can't get any fuel to go into the right tank. There are failures that will cause early shut off but it would flow again if you restarted the pump. And the right level sensor isn't going to suddenly go from empty to full with no fuel added. A dirty right tank sensor MIGHT have shown empty on the right when you actually had 4 gallons on that side but the left would have been full and the gauge would have shown 1/2 at the start instead of 1/4.
Bottom line is something isn't right about this story so reset your average mileage and drive the 4 gallons out and see what the gauge reads.

. i will continue to drive it until she reads 336 or fuel gauge reads 1/4 full and add anotrher bottle and refill her. i never had this problem before because i normally refill my gas once 1/2 full sometimes 3/4.
maybe refilling to early prevents the old gas from being stuck inside and not used? just my speculation but, it should get mix when you refill w/ new gas right? i'm hoping it was just one of those electronic glitches.

At more than 1/2 a tank the fuel is continuously being mixed by being pumped from the right tank to the left and flowing back through the crossover. Refilling before 1/2 a tank WILL prevent the left level sensor from ever moving very much and might result in more wear or dirt at the full position.
I did figure a way to get from 1/4 to full by adding 4 gallons. The right tank is 4 gallons short and the left is full as it should be. The right level sensor is working but the left has failed and reads zero. That gives a gauge reading of 1/4. You add 4 gallons and both tanks are full so it shuts off. Now the trick is that the swirling of fuel going in corrects the problem with the left sensor and it starts working so the gauge now reads full. The problem with this theory is you should have known that you only used 4 gallons and not 12 since the last fill up.
