Ok, the D-type wheel is probably on my list. Who do you get to remove/install and what does that cost? I'm in OK City area, so if anyone has any actual experience with anyone in the state, that would be great as well.
I just did this and I'm sure any chevy dealership could do it with an hours labor, but you can easily do this yourself. Do a search and you will get great instructions, pictures and all. This is a no brainer.
I did mine 3 times. No airbag light issues. Really pretty easy as long as you have a 2 point pulley puller the first time to remove the wheel. I can do it in 30 minutes or less now. Be sure to disconnect the battery (with the door open) before starting.
The instructions posted by Zoxxo are the same I used.

Reason: adding
ok, those of you who have removed yourself, what about if the air bag light won't go off? I've seen some comments on that here.
The air bag light will go off *if* you don't put things back exactly as they were when you took things apart
There's really precious little to the exercise. What you need to be careful with is the tiny plastic clips that keep the air bag connectors in place. If they aren't put back (at all) or are put back incorrectly, or broken, then you'll get the light. And it's anyone's guess if you can actually get those things from GM (!!) so don't lose them and don't break them!
Just pay attention to details, take your time, and follow the instructions and you'll realize afterwards that it was a no-brainer AND that you spent 5x more time worryiing about it than it took to actually do it.
re: puller
Some folks manage to get the wheel off by hand. Not mine, of course. I used a $6 generic, 3-arm gear puller to get mine off. Took some real effort to pop it loose (the key word there being "pop"!) Don't be afraid to lean into it if you have to.
