So doing some research i found the following.... It appears that the clutch pedal sticks down, there is a service bulletin 4269? out there. This would explain my issues,I even said to the wife I thought that the pedal was down on the floor, this has happened 3 times now. This would explain a lot. It was a weird feeling since you expect the car to accelerate but it wasn't moving and then before i knew it the RPM's were up and the clutch was burning. Has anyone had this issue and what is the repair or am i just going to get the run around at the dealership??
If the clutch pedal stayed on the floor, then you wouldn't have had the bad smell.
Its funny. It seems like about once a year or so somebody comes on here to ask about doing burnouts. And its typically from a poster that definitely does not sound like they want to do their burnouts in the burnout box of the local dragstrip to heat up their tires. It typically sounds like someone that has a fast car for the first time in their life and they want to be cool (lets face it, burnouts are cool . This is what makes me worried about buying a fast car from a non-car person. At least a car person typically will use it and not abuse it (at least thats a fair description of me), and they'll do their burnouts in a manner that doesn't attempt to destroy their car.
FWIW. These statements are not directly pointed at the OP, just my observations on this board for 4 years. And I'm not a prude, burnouts are cool. Smoking your clutch bouncing off the rev limiter, not cool.
Slow down grandpa, you obviously have never taken your care to the track as you are extremely ignorant. You are the one that sounds 16 claiming they are 'gay'.
Funny thing is im only 5 years older than you and not even in my 30's yet. I drive a Z06 and hardly drive it like a grandpa however I just wanted to give my input on the subject since the OP had questions and concerns.
When I see someone doing that to me it just looks stupid. Your doing your drivetrain and tires no favors whatsoever and its not even that fun to do. Laying into all 505HP at 5000rpm in 2nd gear now THATS fun. K call me a grandpa again

My apologies, it was out of line, but at the track a burnout has a purpose. When people do burnouts in parking lots to show off, or on the street somewhere in public it's stupid, but at the track people should know the risks of damaging their cars by driving their cars hard period, burnout, etc. I hate my local track because they force you to drive through the water, so you have to lay some wheel to get the water off even if you do not want to do a burnout.
Ever seen a clutch grenade inside an aluminum bellhousing? Know where your right foot is in relation to the bellhousing? Know what's between your right foot and the bellhousing?
Three things to think about.
Had that exact thing happen to a friend of mine who raced stock cars professionally back in the early 1980's.
He spend the better part of one year in the hospital and rehab from the many multiple surgeries that were required to repair his right ankle and femur.
The clutch exploded and grenaded the bell housing. The bell housing shrapnel then came through the floor board and wreaked all kinds of havoc causing serious lower leg injuries.
I remember for the 2005 MY (and maybe through 2007) some clutches would not fully apply above 5,000 rpm. The problem was the design of the counter weights on the pressure plate (centrifugal force). GM released a new design clutch to correct this issue.
well actually the clutch is on a bell housing on the engine, so if it goes your going to be walking like a pirate, the torque tube transfers the clutches output to the tranny/diff combo out back, i have pics from my build if you want to see this.
that being said i like to put the car in "all off" mode by holding the button down for 5 seconds, with comp mode the brakes will come on and the car kick out to the right at the wheels start spinning, ofcourse i had to video my burnout, it was my first ever so yea:

Just ask Big Daddy Don Garlits about those things. He captured some of his clutch in this right leg smokin' a AA Fueler back in the day. That's when scattershields became mandatory.
First off doing burnouts is gay and for 16 year old boys. Secondly your breaking your car and putting large amounts of stress on certain parts. I mean its your car you can do as you please but I just dont think its worth it. Sure flooring it in 1st and having the tires break loose is fun, but popping the clutch and doing 6,000rpm burnouts and stuff.......
Oh please, spare us the drivel. He may or may not be trolling but either way if he reeled you in hook line and sinker...

No not grandpa...But I do have a word for you, it rhymes with homophobe.
The pedal sticking was/is in fact a problem in Ls2 Vettes,at least in 05/06.Happened to my 05 when I had it.That TSB is there for a reason. As for burning rubber with your 400 dollar a pop runflats, the GOODYEARS are not the best tires for that but it can be done. All off, dump the clutch and go.No rev really necessary,or very little anyway.
