I am looking to remove my center console and have read the FAQs and other posts for instructions. The one thing that I have not seen mentioned is how to remove what looks like a plug on the driver's side near the traction control button (On side of console). This holds the rear interior colored console to the gray center console. Does that pop out? Seems like it has a opening in the center of it, dont know if that is for a screwdriver or some other tool. Anyone have any ideas?
It sounds like it the cylinder lock for the console lid, but I thought that was just on the 2005's. Does your key fit in the slot and turn 90 deg that you think is for a screwdriver?
If it does, then that is what is for and does not need to come apart at all to take the console apart.
One other question...I am looking to pull out the Nav to install an ADD GM24 harness to the back of it. With regards to the console, do I have to remove the shifter **** to do this or can I put the shifter in drive and be able to get clearance for the radio? Can I detach the shifter boot from the bottom of the console if necessary? Thanks

yes...just pull it back out of the way. you'll have to start it up to move it. be sure your headlights are not in the auto-on position. no need to do anything with the shifter boot.
