Default Got clearbra installed

Actually it's called "defenzall" from Haartz

Anyways, I called around - there were numerous tint shops that installed pre cut kits; but I really wasn't sure about a tint'er installing clear bra.

I called the high end dealerships (BMW, MB, Lexus) and they all recommended a company. BTW: ALL of the chevrolet dealers acted like I was speaking farsi or something.

Installer did a good job, he used a pre cut kit, but did some custom fitting in other places (headlights, foglights, mirrors, rear inner fenders).

He was originally going to use a kit for the bumper, but I told him I wanted the emblem removed anyways (i bought a 09+ chrome one). Removing that emblem is a PITA! So he did a custom bumper.

I was a little nervous when he whipped out the razor blade, but he showed me all he does is score the film and then it breaks. I peaked under a few spots, and yep no knife cuts in the paint.

With that said...I don't know if I like it. The orange peel is a little too much for a black car. Plus the film scratches easier than clear coat.

I think I may have the bumper pulled off, and just use one of the nylon stretch bra's when I travel.

never heard of that brand but give it time to cure if it's just a day or two old. as for it scratching easily that's a problem but at least it's not the paint being scratched. sounds like another brand may be in order. the stretch bra will do more harm than good.

Had one put on my Silver 10 and really like it. The installer used 3M brand from the design firm he installs for. He also customized the bra for my car.
I was made a believer after spending a day at Putnam Park Road Course with a friend of mine and his ZO6 with a clear bra on it. He took quite a hit on the front from a rock or something thrown up from the car in front of us and although it pierced the clear bra, no damage whatsoever to the paint. A little heat from a heat gun and we couldn't even find where the bra split.

Yeah you would have been better off going with a better quality film. I have never even heard of Haartz and I have been installing film for over 7 years.

He said he uses it and 3m, but switched to it only. I guess he's been doing it for a while as well. He said he liked it over other brands.

I would say that 80% of the tint shops out there that offer this are not very good at it. I have seen a lot of work done by tinters over the years... and the problem is they know how to tint and think that paint protection film is the same. The two are very different. Tint guys spend most of their time tinting and not installing film... which typically equates to a lower quality install. But there are exceptions to every rule. In this case I am not sure why someone would switch from 3M to a film that really has no reputation or history. I prefer VentureShield Ultra (and have installed about every film out there) but if given the choice of 3M or Haart I would take 3M any day. Not necessarily because of the quality of the film but because of 3M's reputation, history, and knowing they will warranty their film over the long run. This film you have may be a good film (although I see a lot of orange peel in it) but without it being a major player I wouldnt use it. There is a reason why it isnt one of the main films out there.

But either way you weill have protection on your car and thats what matters most. I would highly recommend not removing the bumper as it takes the most damage of anywhere on the car. PM me if you have any more questions... I will be happy to help you out.

Texas_Venom,

Are you near Houston? If not, can you recommend anyone near Houston? How much should I expect to pay?

Thanks!
