Hankook, Nexen and Kumho are Korean manufacturers who tend to be "lower-budget" choices for tires. I've heard good things about both Kumho and Nexen but mixed for Hankook.
I went to Costco last week to buy some BFG KDW's and the tire shop manager said I would have to buy a 5th tire and wheel because my vette had run flats on it.
A very short conversation about people and companies minding their own business, and I was out the door to give my $1200, (includes 4 wheel align; road force balance, and sales tax,) to someone who wanted my business.
No more $50 membership fee from me.
I don't think the tire shop manager likes me any more either. He said I was a potty mouth.

I believe the Michelins are the only choice, at present. However, both the A/S and the PS2 ZPs can be had at Costco. I hear the OTD Costco pricing on the Michelin A/Ss is between $1300 & $1400, complete.
Do you know what Kumho's go for? I don't think Costco has this brand.

But I think they are limited to the tires they either normally have local stock of and/or have access to in the Costco tire loop. They do not have unlimited choices (like TireRack), especially for RFs. That is what I understand about the local Costco's here in No. CA.
Check out reviews for Hankook Ventus tires.Set of four for about $800.Excellent reviews and $50 rebate if set ordered, for those of us who don't need to race and are concerned with value for dollar. JMHO

Costco does not. But if you really want Kumho tires, lots of local No. CA tire companies can get them (even some GY and FS company stores). Keeping in mind, Kumho does not make a RF for the C6 (that I know of).

Non runflats,$755, set of four @ tire rack, free ship.
All reviews I have read have been superb for such a low priced tire.
PS: reviews based on performance, not price.
Hankook's are made in Korea. They're OEM on many cars (like the Hyundai and even the Ford Focus). I would be careful recommending this company, until they garner a favorable rep in the hi-perf. arena.
Michelins have an A/S and a PS2 (better perf.) RF (they call them ZP's). One is slighly more than the FS RFs (the A/S's) and the other (PS2's) are much more than the FS RFs. Preliminary results coming from owners on both of these Michelins, are good.
Kumho's have been around awhile in the U.S. They have had mixed results from what I've heard. Some love them, some not so much. It is my humble opinion, using a non-RF tire invites all sorts of uncomfortable and complicated scenarios. So, personally, I'm sticking with the RF tires, for now.
Hankooks have very good reviews on the High Performance tires they make. Also, my F430's Bridgestones are made in Japan, so what....

I'm not necessarily disputing your success with them but when I read performance reviews of these tires (not only TireRack reviews, because lots of them are just patting themselves on the back for a purchase) but from objective sources (like MT, C&D, AutoMotive, CR, etc.), they usually warn perspective tire buyers that most Korean tires (except Kumho) are not up to par, yet. That is what I've been intimating about Korean tire performance, quality and reliability. Their rep. has not been completely and positively established here in the U.S. yet.

Read my post above (#53). I'm not dissing Japanese-made tires. They've been around much longer than Korean-made tires. Their reliability is excellent. The Korean tires, not so much, yet.

But because something is new means it's no good? That is just plain dumb . Also, how many years do you have to be in business to be not new? Hankook is in almost all the major motorsports from LeMans Series, to 24h of LeMans to official tire of IMSA and the list goes on and on........
You need to put IMO in front of your comments because they are not fact they are just your opinion.

I didn't say "no good". I just said their rep. hasn't been established, yet. Like other name brands that have been around alot longer than Korean tires. If you re-read my comments in these last few, that is exactly what I am intimating. I think you just misunderstood what I was saying?
BTW, when most comments are made here (especially comments like mine in this thread); unless someone is quoting facts (usually specified), it is almost always opinion, fwiw.

Believe me, I have been on this forum a long time and when some people speak they think it is the truth and absolute fact.
I have the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo tires in the stock C6 sizes. I love them! I've got just over 1000 miles on them with one "spirited" trip and one cruise weekend. I've driven them in the rain, snow (yes, I said snow), cold, dry, freeway, country road, around town...okay, you get the picture.
I haven't tracked the car with these tires, but from the driving that I've done, they handle beautifully and are very predictable in all conditions. It goes without saying that they're quiet, they're non-RF, but to give you an idea I can whisper driving at 80mph and my passenger has no problem hearing me.
Hankook doesn't have the reputation in American or European sports cars that the big boys do, but in the import world they are well known and respected. Do your homework and find what fits your budget and driving style.
How many miles have you put on these Michelin A/S's? Have you noticed any gas mileage changes? They are less noisey, have you noticed anything else about them? What tires did you have previously?
As a daily driver, do you ever push (speed, cornering, etc.) your 'Vette? I don't mean consistently but on occasion? You can have fun and not "road-race". I want to know how much "fun" you have with your 'Vette?
I'm asking these questions because I don't auto-X or road race but I do occasionally push my 'Vette (which normally means speed and/or cornering). I want to know if I can drive like this with those Michelins you have? Please advise all? Thanks, in advance.
About 1000 miles. Replaced Stock Goodyear Supercar (Z51) tires. Very quiet as I said, but anything is quiet compared to worn Supercars. I try to take every freeway ramp as fast as I can. I've seen up to .9 G, the extent of my "spirited" driving, and the Michelin PS+ A/S ZPs feel just as sticky as the Supercars even when they were new. Just seat of the pants so YMMV. I doubt they will stay as quiet as they get some wear on them, but warranted to 45K miles that could be some time.
