I have read treads in the past that if your gas cap is loose you will get a notice "right" or ?? Well every time i get gas my cap seems loose.I just got gas & i left the cap OFF & drove home & i got nothing in the DIC?? Shoulden the fuel system stay pressurized?? Thanks

It's been experience that if the cap is loose (i.e. not sealed completely), your CE light will come on and codes will be stored (it seems to take a few ignition cycles for this to happen however - it doesn't happen immediately)
Tightening the cap and after a few more ignition cycles, the CE light will go out and codes will be cleared.
I had a similar problem and the advice I received on the forum was to only tighten the gas cap two clicks. I have been doing this every since and have had no problems.
its only going to set a light under the right circumstances. Needs to be in closed loop (engine warmed up etc..) and most systems do the evaporative system check under light load while at cruise speeds over a certain speed, i think its 50. If you only do short trips it wont turn the light on. Some manufactures (like chrysler) should but dont kick the light on on some models (all OBD2 cars (cars 1995 and newer) are required to have an evap system check, but a few dont seem to kick the light on) and some manufactures like ford actually have a "check gas cap" dedicated light/ Take the cap off and take a trip down the hightway, should kick the light on
