The part number on my existing FOB is 25854929. When I enter that number into a parts search it says it was superseded by part number 25926479 (FOB #1).
There is also a part number 25926480 (FOB #2).
Is there a physical difference between FOB #1 and FOB #2? I'm confused as to which one I should order?
GM has just done a part number change on the fob. They do that anytime there is a change of any kind on a part including who makes the part. GM tells me there is no physical difference and they changed the mfg of the fob. According to the number you say you have you have lost your #2 fob. which is the 25926480 number.

I'm clear about the superseded part numbers, but why are FOB #1 and FOB #2 different?
I've looked everywhere (Owners Manual, Service Manuals, online) and couldn't find any explanation of the difference between FOB #1 and FOB #2 (part numbers 25926479 and 25926480).
And say if I wanted 3 FOBs total, would I get 2 more FOB #2s?
Two FOB's allow all presets to be customized for two drivers: driver's seat, mirrors, sound system, etc.
Say your 6 feet and your lady is 5 feet (tall). When she walks up with FOB 2 in her pocket, the presets are activated for her personal settings. You can set both FOB's to the same settings.
The fobs have a number on them which tells the owner which one is #1 and which is #2. They are the same other than the stamped number on the fob. The number of the fob as recognized by the car is determined by the order that they were programmed at the factory. There is a complete thread in the FAQ section that will help you program the new fob to your car.
To clarify, you can use any fob and just mark it in some way for your own identification. I could have 4 fobs that all are stamped "1"...when I program them to the car, they become #1, #2, #3, #4. I can then mark them with something to correspond to that.
