[QUOTE=haljensen;1573973958]Performance class? None of the above mentioned cars are in the same class as an LS2 'Vette.
None of those cars holds a candle to an LS2 Vette. I sold a Charger SRT8 to get into my 2009 Vette and I can assure you there is no comparison. The Chargers and Challengers in particular are just way too heavy to be in a Vette's league. My SRT8 was over 900 pounds heavier than my 2009 and I can feel the difference everytime I drive it!
Unless you're talking rental cars, a car's "class" is usually defined by one of several sanctioning bodies. For example, in races sanctioned by Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series the C6 runs in the GT Class with Porsche GT3, Chevrolet Camaro, BMW M3 and M6, Pontiac GTO.R, Mazda RX-8, Nissan 350Z, Ferrari 430C, Ford Mustang, Infiniti G35, Audi R8, Jaguar XK and Mercedes SLS. At the 24 Hours of LeMans (sanctioned by ACO) and in American LeMans Series (ALMS) races, the C6 is in the same GT class as Aston Martin, BMW, Ferrari, and Porsche.

In many cases there are "equalizers" in the form of restrictor plates and ballast weights to keep the competition as close as possible.
We will see when the 2011 Challenger with a whopping 580hp arrives in showrooms.
Hmm, most estimates of the new 2011 6.4L SRT engine put it at 475-500hp on the SRT forums. It is highly unlikely to be rated at 580hp but even if it was, with a 900+ pound weight disadvantage the SRT's STILL wouldn't be able to match the Vette.
MOPAR makes a fun musclecar and they do look very retro but a Corvette they are not, IMHO.
