The holes are in the same location. Don't use a template. The easy way to install:
1. Take out your OEM 3rd brake light/spoiler
2. Install the brake light into your new ZR1 style spoiler
3. Using lipstick or nail polish, mark each of the 3 outer bolts on each side.
4. Push your ZR1 style spoiler down into place by lining up the 4 center bolts with the holes already in your car from the factory.
5. Lift the spoiler up, the nail polish will mark exactly where you need to drill your new holes.

If so; what specific 3M tape would I need?

We provide all bolts and nuts needed. You do use your OEM spoiler nuts and studs from the 4 center pieces. We provide you 6 nuts and 6 bolts needed to complete the installation.

Josh,
I received my spoiler yesterday... I must say I am VERY impressed with the DSOM paint match. It looks really good!!!! Now I have to get the courage to drill the rear bumper...
By the way, Do you have any recommendations on the drill bit size? Is multiple sizes needed? What is good to mark the new holes(not sure if my wife will loan me any of her lipstick)?
I appreciate the fast response to my PM yesterday too. EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE....
Thanks again Josh for everything!

Tim,
Can you follow up with some pictures once you have yours on and give some feedback on how the fit is.
I love the ZR1 spoiler and am about ready to pull the trigger on this. I am curious if there are any gaps or if the fit was spot on.

I didn't drill
I bought my OEM spoiler from Josh last year in Lemans Blue and it looks great. However, I cannot bring myself to drilling holes in the car because once done it IS DONE. I used a couple layers of 3M double face tape at the new hole markings and it has held on perfectly for over a year. Drill if you want but I didn't.

I had no issues with the install. I am really happy with Josh @ RPI Design from a customer service standpoint, quality of workmanship (DSOM paint match is DEAD ON!!!!!).
The car is a little dirty.. Anyway,,,Here are a few pics of my install along the way.
Spoiler out of the box.
Removal of tail lights to get to the stock third brake light,...
Dry fit of spoiler(removed studs so it would fit flush)
Marking up the rear bumper for drill holes()
Setting up my pushpin method for locating my drill holes..I just went to officemax to locate these large blue pins (item#350-956).
Pins installed with some double sided tape to fill the gap and keep the pins straight.
Sorry I forgot to take pics of my drill marks before I started getting drill happy. Honestly, I wasn't real nervous about drilling the holes as long as I know I was 200% sure where the holes were to be... That old saying - Messure twice and cut once.. Well, I messured many times and drilled 6 holes x 3 rounds (1/8,3/16 and last at 5/16).
Spoiler through the holes. Notice the tape on top of the spoiler to mark my pin locations so that I could push down right over them
Here a a few pics of the final install of the spoiler. This was after I removed the tape, bolted the spoiler down nice and tight and reinstalled the tail lights. What do you think?
Again, I can't thank Josh enough for a GREAT product!!!!Also, I would like to thank GOTCHA too for posting up his procedures when he installed his spoiler. They worked like a charm!!!
Let me know if anyone has any question..
Tim
