Navigation Disc Read Errors

I'm starting to have more and more problems with my Navigation system saying it can't read the DVD or the "disc is not a MAP DVD" error. It seems like it happens after about 20 -30 minutes of use or if the interior is hot. I've tried a couple different discs with the same results.

I'm wondering if this is a common problem or if there is something wrong with my DVD player. Is anyone else out there having similar problems?

Try cleaning the drive. Blowing out with canned air can sometimes do wonders. A car is a very dirty environment for electronics with moving parts.

Yea, I have done this twice already. It seems like it helps for a day or so and then it starts doing it again.

I had exactly the same problem - let it go for a period of months hoping it would resolve itself (ha,ha). Eventually the dealer swapped it out for a new unit under warranty. I should have done it much sooner - haven't had a problem in almost a year now.

Thanks, I think I'm going to take it in to the dealer and let them figure it out. I've tried different discs and cleaning to no avail.

I've also been having what sounds like the same problem. The NAV works fine locally, but if I try to search for an address or go outside my normal driving area, I get DVD read errors. I suspect the drive can't seek correctly.
