Default Question about Adding Wide Booty

Does adding JUST the rear Z06 Quarter Panels and Z06 Tires and Wheels to a base C6 "disturb" the drivability of the car? I like the wider look in the rear and its must less expensive to do just the rear without the front.

Effects nothing you would ever notice on the street. Maybe, and that is a maybe, it might show a difference at the limit out on a road course.

That looks great with those wheels, good choice. Didn't you widen the stock rear wheels to begin with?

Not for street driving. Wider tires on the back will make it understeer a bit more...

Yep, had the wider stock wheels on for about a year. Have them sitting in the garage with almost new tires. Guess I will be using them for spares. Have only the one C6, but for some darn reason, I have enough rims/tires for 3 cars!

What exactly will the "understeering" do? I'm not sure I know what that means, sorry.

Under steer is where the front end looses grip before the rear end does and "plows" through a corner/turn. Which is the opposite of "oversteer" where the front end bites while the back end comes loose and starts to come around on you.

I doubt you'd experience this on a public road unless driving in bad weather. But for Corvette owners that track their car on a fast road course the perfect set up is a car that is balanced with a slight bias towards an "understeer" condition which is the easiest to control when it happens, you just lift off the throttle bleed off some speed until the front end regains traction.

I track my vette's so I'de never do this mod. But for cruising the streets to the hamburger stand or for the 1/4 guys this is a great mod.
