So prior to me taking my car up to Summit point for the weekend, the brakes felt GREAT. I'm using racing brake ET700s, Motul RBF600 and stainless steel lines, just put them on.
After leaving the track, i notice my pedal doesn't feel anywhere near as firm as it did prior to the track. It feels quite soft actually, much harder to modulate the pedal.
I notice if i pump the brake a little the pedal feels MUCH nicer, i'm thinking maybe theres some air in the system, even though i JUST flushed/bled the system...? Is this normal after a weekend of track use?
I have not had this issue before with any of my other cars that i track quite often.
can't comment on the Vette as I have not had the issue but on my race bike it is not unusual for air to be trapped in the calipers even with bleeding and after a ride, the brakes definately feel soft. try to bleed the system again ensuring you do it in the right order, etc.
Hmmmm, that's a weird one. I would think that if it's due to air in the system it would have been there all along - running on the track shouldn't have made a difference.....unless there was moisture in the system that boiled during hard use....
On our C5, hard track use would wear the pads on a taper and cause a slightly soft pedal like you describe. Not sure if the C6 is similar.
Good luck!
this would explain OP's symptoms. pumping the brake puts the pad in full contact with the rotor, then they go back and need to be "tilted" by the pistons to come back into full contact.
driving for a while starts to wear the pads normally again.
i would pull out the pads and check for taper, and if they are tapered swap them side-to-side
