Default Mobile 1 oil filter vs. Delco

Did some searching but need to make sure that the Mobile M1-113 is equal to the UPF48R for dry sump engines?

I've always used Mobile 1 filters for my engines, but this is my first vette and first oil change on the vette. Any pros/cons to using the Mobile 1 vs. the Delco?

I'd say both are fine.

both are great filters. I bet they both come off the same line in China.

I use the UPF48R on my '06 LS7. I bought a half dozen over a couple of years ago and still have two in stock. However, I would have no hesitation toward buying a M1-113 if I was out of the UPF48R. I can get the M1 filters at most any auto parts store which is far more convenient than sourcing the UPF48R.

I think the black ZR-1 Delco oil filter is the best to use. It has a higher burst rating and the filter material, filters out more of the dirt.

That's the UPF48R. It's been tested and proven time and again. But then again, I am a little biased LOL

Question is does the mobile have the same rating? Anyone using the mobile 1 filter on a dry sump engine?

I use the Mobil1 filter and the K&N. I wouldn't hesitate to use the Delco UPF48R but no way would I use a lessor version of the Delco(like a PF48). I grab up the specials at AutoZone when they're selling 5.28qt(5L) jugs of Mobil1 and a Mobil1 filter for $29.99. I seriously doubt that any local Chevy dealer has the Delco UPF48R in stock and I would end up with a PF48 filter during a dealer oil change on my Z06(even on a ZR1, if I owned one).

But since I do my own oil changes, I stick with Mobil1 and K&N filters that I can get locally at any parts store vs special ordering from out of state.

Which is probably the same filter as the Mobile 1, with a removal nut welded to the end. Both K&N and Mobile 1 use filters that are made by Champion Labs.

I went with the Mobile One because it is a packaged special with the oil. Bought a filter wrench to fit it, which does not fit the OEM, and just stayed that way. I'd think both are fine though. Oh yea. The filter wrench fits my Harley too so I killed two birds.

Both filters are made by Champion Labs and are similar in many ways, but they each use slightly different filtering media. The K&N is geared a bit more towards higher flow while the M1 is geared towards filtering out smaller particles. The burst strength of both of these filters is one of the best in the business, you can feel it even when you pick it up. These things are as sturdy as tanks. I doubt anyone on here would ever have one of these puppies burst open on them.

Interesting discussion. I just bought a UPF48R from my local dealer, he had a case under his desk, not on the rack. Also, it appeared to me that the drainback holes on the UPF48R where somewhat smaller than the ones on the standard filter. Anyone notice this?
