Washed my car today, started it and pulled into the garage to dry it. A couple of hours later I went out to drive it and the drivers door will not open. The window drops and goes back up like it's going to open but does not. The passenger door works fine so I reached through and tried the inside button for the drivers door. Still no luck. It will open with the hatch cable though. What is the problem??? I hate to leave at the dealer.
I guess it could be a switch but the window does index when the door button is pushed so that switch seems to be working. The door latch mechanism just doesn't release for some reason.
Remove the passenger side touch pad and install it on the driver's door. If the door works, it the touch pad. $12 at the dealer. Part number is on the touch pad itself.
Yes and no, waited a day, locked and unlocked with the fob and now the door works. I had tried this before to no avail so I really don't know what happened just hope it doesn't repeat!
It sounds like something electrical got wet when you washed the car and it's had time to dry out. Since the cable in the trunk works, I'd rule out the mechanical latch. If it happens again, humor me and switch the touch pads. It's a simple and effective way to troubleshoot the problem without involving a dealer.
