Default Millenium Yellow 2005 vs 2003

Is Millenium Yellow supposed to be the same between C5s and C6s?

I have a 05 MY coupe. Jan 05 production, original paint. Pic is my car parked next to a 03 Z06 MY - I didn't get to ask the owner but it is original paint as far as I can tell.

Looks to me like the C5 is Velocity Yellow- a little lighter than the M Yellow

Velocity Yellow wasn't offered until 2005. The only yellow for 2003 was Millenium Yellow. Both Millenium Yellow and Velocity Yellow were offered for 2005.

VY is much brighter than this Z06 color. I have read that MY is a special multi-part paint that uses a white base coat. I wonder if that makes a difference. Any experts on this?

In 05 there were 760 Velocity Yellow and (45U) and 2002 Millenium Yellow (79U) cars produced. My 05 MY is pretty close to a friends 02 MY. January production might be late enough for Velocity Yellow. Have you verified your paint code? I thought mine was velocity until I bought a painted license plate frame and saw the difference, then looked at the paint code on the car to confirm it was millenium.

Quite sure. But (and there is always a but right?) when I had my top fixed the first time back in 05, the dealer could not get the paint right and it was not a 100% match. Also, when I bought my rear spoiler from apsisusa, Jersey recommended I not buy a prepainted spoiler becuase I had MY.

Have to check your paint code on the car to be sure. Millinium Yellow ran on the 05's to start with until they ran out then went with Velocity Yellow. By the Jan 05 build date I would almost think you'd have to be in the VY color by then.

Default MY vs. VY

I had an '01 MY coupe and replaced it with an '08 VY coupe.

Side by side, there was a clear difference between the two colors. The MY was warmer, almost like there was some orange in it. The VY isn't canary yellow but it's definitely a purer yellow than the MY.

Service tag in the glove box says 79U, Chevrolet mailed me a complimetary touch up paint stick code 79 WA 423G that matches and the window sticker says Millenium Yellow. I am sure VY came out later in 05 as I remember reading posts about it a few months after I bought the car.

The 03 Z06 in the pic I posted is lighter and closer to VY IMO.

That c6 definitely appears to be mill yellow. To be honest, i think the difference in the two is the condition of the paint. The c6 is newer and has a much better coat(s) of wax on it. Ive seen the same with my mill yellow c6 because i wax it so much it looks a little different than some others when next to each other.
