My OnStar Module took a dump - just stopped working. I push the button (either of them) and the system says "connecting to OnStar" but nothing happens and all I get is an intermittnet beeping and the status light blinks green. When I push the telephone button to make a call, it seems to be working, asks for the number, says "dialing" and then tells me that I don't have enough minutes to make the call (I have 100 minutes left according to my account printout). Called OnStar and they tried to trouble shoot it but determined that the module was bad and told me to contact my dealer. Went to the dealer last week - they ordered a new module. They called me to bring the car in today to install the new module - said it would take about an hour and a half to install and progrm. Arrived promptly at 7:00 A.M. this morning and was still there at 1:30 P.M. this afternoon. Service advisor said that the new module was not programming properly and was having issues communicating with OnStar. They gave me a rental and sent me home. Said they would call when the car was ready; but that the new module might be defective - or that sometimes it takes more tahn 24 hours for the programming to install completely. I have an '08 MN6 2LT coupe. Anybody else experienced anything like this with OnStar?
Well, the dealer still has my car (been in the service dept. since 7:00 A.M. Monday and it is now 4:00 P.M. Tuesday. My service advisor reports that they have gotten the new OnStar module to communicate with OnStar, but that it takes 3 to 5 minutes to make a conneciton once the button is pushed. He said that Chevrolet and OnStar are talking it over and he doesn't know what the next step is going to be. Said that none of the techs working on the problem from Chev. or OnStar have encountered this problem before that they can remember. I wonder if it could be the antenna, or the radio head unit or something like that screwing it up? It's weird for sure.
