Gas pedal problem?
Maybe somebody can help me out. Last week my gas pedal fell off. I picked the parts out of the wheel well and have the pedal a spring and a metal pin. My friend Scott helped me put it back on but said their was another part (white plastic retainer clip) that's missing.
No white retainer clip on any I've seen, in fact holding an extra pedal assembly in my hand right now. The pin on mine is a pressed in fit. These pin's are quite difficult to remove, and find it strange a couple recent post's about these falling out. If your's is still loose, you'll need to fix that, or it'll fall off again. One way is to ping the knurled pin end several time's with a center punch, to effectively make it grow. Better still is a couple drops of Loctite Bearing Mount compound, as fitting loose part' it's what it's designed for.
I never heard of this until a week or two ago - this may need to turn into a recall issue because I've read about several of these in the last couple weeks. They must have gone to a different vendor that didn't get the size of the retaining pin correct - like Vette5.5 says, it's just a "force fit" into the back of the pedal.
I don't know anything about a white clip, unless they've changed the pedal on recent production cars. Below is a picture of the pedal out my 2009 when I took it out to put an EE heel and toe pedal and dead pedal - which Ive done on my 2005, 2006, and 2009. The spring is not there because you use it for the EE pedal install.
I installed gas and dead pedal from Elite Engineering. the gas pedal replaces the OEM pedal and has a allen screw to hold it in place instead of the push pin. Very easy to do , 15 minute mod

Thanks for finding these older threads for me. In one picture it showed what I'm missing it's a white plastic washer to keep the spring from moving around.

Hmmmm......did you have an aftermarket pedal???
The picture in my post of the back of the black pedal is the OE pedal, and it's made out of plastic.
The picture you posted up is of some aftermarket pedal that appears to be made of aluminum.
That white washer in your picture is not part of the OE pedal.

That's exactly what I'm trying to figure out. My friend Scott said the OEM pedal has it. I also realize the pedal in the picture is not stock but all the hardware behind it could be.

So you're sure the white washer is not OEM?
I've put the EE pedals on the three C6s I've owned (2005, 2006, and 2009) and the white thing wasn't on any of those OE pedals when I removed them. I don't know about the 2010 and newer C6.

Thanks Bob
The cars going in tomorrow for the top recall and that's why I wanted to know because I was going to get them to replace the the white washer.
I'll mention it to them, but what I'm trying to do is keep the car out of service. Once you put the car in service they could have it for half the day, which I don't really feel like waiting for.
