Default Being nice but....

I know I'm getting old and the edge is wearing off but, I had the 08 coupe in for some warranty issues. One being the trunk release button. At one point, I'm sure that if I pressed that little black button the rear deck would open. It doesn't do that anymore. The dealer tells me that the switch and transmitter are "working as designed" and that I need to use the key to open the deck lid. Is it me or does the deck lid only work in conjunction with the fob being pressed. I seem to remember that simply pressing the button above the plate would open the lid.

I'd check the manual but, the car is at the dealer's body shop getting some road gator damage repaired. I'd like to get back to them ASAP while the car is still there. I'm sure I've read about a defective switch issue at one time or another on the forum.

Your dealer is an idiot. As long as the fob is close all you need do is push the button above the licence plate.

jcorn,
Go to this tread and read it. It is a common problem that is repairable.

Seems like a lot of techs don't have a clue. That said, your owner's manual is your friend here......

Thanks. I hoped I wasn't losing it. I disjointed my finger trying to get that thing to work. I'll call the service writer in the a.m. and run a tutorial. They have been very good with service. My guess is that we were talking about two different issues. I should have told them the switch was defective rather than the deck lid won't go up. Oh well .....Thanks again. This forum is fantastic.
