Yes, THANK YOU for your service.

Jon, just curious, did the guys you served with ever put together a reunion?

I was just 17 in '71, so just missed the Vietnam experience. But, I have actually had the good fortune of attending 3 reunions (98, 02, 04) of a friend of mine from the 101st Airborne who served 70-71 up around the DMZ.

It was just by chance that someone he served with, started reunions in the mid-90's. My friend was an oil engineer overseas, and he was back in '98, and told me to meet him at his first reunion in Nashville (me, Chgo, him, Birmingham), and glad I did.

What a great bunch of guys, salt of the earth,... truly the unsung heroes like yourselves.

Very lucky for me to attend, not having earned the membership. They're one of companies that was in Hamburger Hill (937), back in '69. Fred Troop, who put the reunions together ulimately worked backward to a captain and several others that were in that battle.

I've done a lot of traveling in SE Asia,...Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Burma, and worked there for awhile in the late 80's thru the 90's.

I wonder how many VN vets even had the chance to attend a reunion, which meant a lot to vets I met. Guess it came down to 1 or 2 individuals in a company putting a lot of effort into putting them together.

And, Wolfdogs, hats off to your father, obviously a heroic and great American, and you.

The one thing I'll never understand is why more Americans are not more explicitly thankful to the people that have paid for our freedom and everything else we have through their military service.

People to easily forget that it's not the politicians, lawyers, or other people in power that we owe everything to, it's the soldiers who have fought and sacrificied for what we have.

I have never known a soldier to not appreciate a heart felt thank you. That is all we have ever wanted. Lest we not forget our fallen brothers on this day set aside to honor them!

I have always been some what embarrassed when people thank me for my service. I was in Nam 65-66, received 2 bronze stars, and made Sargent in 18 months.
However, there were so many like Wolfdogs father that are/were real heros. I mean I saw it almost every day, these people went beyond just duty.
