I am seriously shopping for a corvette Z06 this year because the lease on my porsche carrera base 997 (2007) is expiring in August of this year. I had a chance to parke my black 997 next to a yellow Z06 the other day and am amazed at how exotic the corvette looks next to the plain porsche.
Has anyone been in my same situation about to jump ship from the Porsche brand to the Corvette wagon? Will I be disappointed trading my porsche in for a Z06? I will be buying and keeping the corvette for a good 5-7 years. So excited to find out about this forum and learn more about the corvette. Still undecided between a base corvette and a Z06.

Many thanks in advance.
My brother is a big Porsche guy. He was shocked when I parked my 06 Z06 next to his car...and even more in awe after I took him for a ride...I think his finger marks are still on the door handle!

As long as you go into the deal knowing that you will have to spend a few grand with DSVettes to make the interior up to the level you had in the Porsche, you will not be dissappointed. My friend has an 02 911 Carrera, very nice car, very well done; but when he took my modded C5 Z06 for a spin he couldn't get over the torque and the raw power the car had. You will find much the same in the C6 Z06, raw power at your command; maybe not as refined as the 911, but in many ways much more fun!
Long & short, I was a P-car fan since adolescence. I've owned an 86 Carrera (used), 99 Carrera (new) and a 04 40 year Anny. Carrera w/the X-50 Power Pack (new)...
I also bought an 02 and 06 Viper between the P-Cars.
The abundant torque of the Vipers converted me away from the P-Cars.
I bought an 09 Zed 06 b/c it is the best compromise btw a Carrera and a Viper. I recall seeing a film on the new C6 Corvette in 2005 or 2006, whereby Corvette engineers went to Germany to review/design & engineer the then new Corvette, that was expected to convert Porsche aficionados to the Corvette brand.
Notice the similar lengths and width...
As soon as Chevy introduced the narrower & shorter C6, I was interested. Guess what, I looked into the Zed 06 and boy am I glad I did/converted. I'd even prefer a Grand Sport over a Carrera or Carrera S. Do it, you will not have any regrets.
i have two neighbors, one with an older 911 turbo cpe and the other with an 07 turbo cab. THEY STARE @ MY C6 ALL THE TIME.....i'm just sayin'. the one with the cpe does not talk about his car (or any P-car) after i took him for a "quick" ride one afternoon .
