Default 2011 brake option

does anyone know for sure if the new J55 brake option for coupe and convertible ( $500) includes larger discs, cross drilled AND the larger calipers that are on the grand sport?

No, it does not include the Grand Sport brakes. The J55 option is inclusive of the larger cross drilled rotors that used to come standard on the Z51 and became included with the F55 in 2007. The J55 option adds the ability to select these brakes as a free form option on base coupes and convertibles. These are NOT the Grand Sport / Z06 brake calipers and rotors.

The layout of sizes will be as follows:

Base:
Front (dia x thickness) 12.8" x 1.26"
Rear (dia x thickness) 12.1 x 1"

J55 (optional)
Front (dia x thickness) 13.4" x 1.26"
Rear (dia x thickness) 13" x 1"

Z51 and F55 standard:
Front (dia x thickness) 13.4" x 1.26"
Rear (dia x thickness) 13" x 1"

Grand Sport: (Silver painted calipers)
Front (dia x thickness) 14" x 1.3"
Rear (dia x thickness) 13.4 x 1"

Z06: (Red painted calipers)
Front (dia x thickness) 14" x 1.3"
Rear (dia x thickness) 13.4 x 1"

The grand sport / zo6 calipers fit the disks that are on these cars. These require the larger grand sport / zo6 size wheels. These wheels require the wider fenders.

If it is a standard body car, it will not have the grand sport / zo6 size brakes (rotors or calipers. They will not fit.

The mag ride cars and the old z51 option had upgraded brakes, but no, they are not the same size as the grand sport or z.
