I'm new here and I'm actually a 2006 BMW Z4 M Roadster owner. I have been for the past year. Since I bought the car a year ago with 5,800 miles on it pre-owned certified I have had nothing but problems with the convertible top not working properly. It's literally been in the shop going on the fifth time for the convertible top not working as it should. I am now to the point where I want to sell the car and get into something else...top of the list...2008 / 2009 Corvette Coupe with LT3 and Z51 package as well as a manual.
You guys know way more about what these should be worth than I do (although I have been doing a lot of research lately) and if I do indeed sell this car here are two options currently available:
the prices seem high on both of those. The red one is certainly my first choice. Any thoughts on what I could possibly get these for? I would like to get something with these options for no more than $35,000. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
maybe I'm missing it but I don't see Z51 on the first one. and the write up says 20" wheels, but they look stock; something's off.
by comparison, the second one is at a respected small chain of dealerships (Sewell is well known in the Dallas area). also, by contrast, Sewell knows it's a "3LT" package and not an LT3.
I don't know if the prices are fair or too high. I realize you want to pay less and these are, as of about now, three (or four, depending on how you count it) model years old.
What do you see as asking prices on other sites for similarly equipped models and years? That may not be a "sold" price, but it's an indicator as more sellers eventually get closer to that price which will sell their cars. And remember, there is a difference in used car prices coming from dealers vs. individuals, namely, it will be more from a dealer.

woops, i got it wrong as well claiming I wanted the LT3 package. :o
The red one is about as close to the perfect combo of options for me currently that i can find but it is more than I am willing to pay. I just dropped $33,400 on the M Roadster a year ago so if the planets align I can get (hopefully) $30,000 or a bit more out of it and still get into a C6 for around $35,000.
Ebay cars usually just sit there and are sold outside of ebay...mostly the prices are always too high. Watch those two and I bet you they don't sell....
You can shop AutoTrader also... and see cars closer to you. You will get to drive the Vette more than the BMW, as it won't be getting "Fixed" all the time, and you will have more money in your pocket, not going for repairs... Welcome
not to worry about 3LT; you'll learn. but those guys are selling it, they should know.
see what the other venues like autotrader.com and cars.com are selling similar cars for. you might even call up the used car depts of local chev dealers and ask them what these cars are selling for; some will give you valuable info.

As others here have recommended, check a new one out, GM is giving free loans! That's right, ZERO % right now. Add to that the model year just changed and they'll be discounting to clear the lots of 2010 models. Go for it, man!
I hope me being a BMW Z4 M Roadster owner doesn't scare anyone off! lol
i bought my '08 Z51 3lt, red/ebony interior, white, 6sp with lots of cosmetic options, new spyder wheels and tires 18,000mi 35.5K, from a forum member. he needed to sell and was local. look at my profile for pic's. the car is fantastic.
If you still like convertibles, I can tell you that the top on my vert works flawlessly.
after the crap I've been through with the M Roadster I'll pass on another convertible. I actually almost prefer the look of the coupe over the (still cool looking) Corvette convertible.
Thanks everyone for some truly great advice! While I would love a 2010 model, with the options I want it will probably put the price above what I am willing to pay. Literally, the red one on ebay is exactly what I would want other than maybe a two tone interior. I like that it comes with the two different tops as well as the upgraded rims. The last red sports car I owned was a 1994 Camaro back when I bought it new in 94. I'm due for another red sports car again.
Another positive for a Corvette is the local Chevy dealer is 5 minutes away versus the 45 to 50 minute drive to the closest BMW dealership. They all know me there, lord knows, I frequent the place enough.
If you're ready to pull the trigger, make 'em an offer.
But I suspect you need to sell your bimmer first.
Or why not give this dealer a call? Explain you want to trade your Z4 M and see what kind of deal they can package for you.
the BMW goes into the shop this coming Friday and I have already told them I want to get out of the car. They are going to make me an offer on it on Friday when it is in the shop getting fixed. I am crossing my fingers that due to all the hassle I have had to go through they might give me a bit more for it just to have a satisfied customer as they know I am more than fed up with the problematic convertible top.
I am still astounded that a car that stickers for $59,000 has had this many problems with the power rag top. As far as calling the dealer out in Colorado with the Vette, I just have this hunch that they'll offer something stupid for the Z4 like $25,000 and not want to budge on the Corvette. Maybe that's just negative thinking.

here is another one, this one is actually only about three hours away. It has the navigation system which I do not want but here's a question...
does a Vette with a navigation system still have the AUX jack like the ones without? I use the AUX jack all the time in my SUV and Acura TSX. I don't need a nav system especially if it gets rid of the AUX input for ipods. Anyone know the answer to this?
