Hey guys first post since i picked up my 05 Z51 car.
Odd tech question, not always but on occasion when i start the car, the lights in the gauges do not light up.. they work, but no lights. sometimes if i fiddle with the dimmer switch it works... and sometimes i have to kill the car and start it back up.

Just wondering what this could be?
Might be normal, dependent on ambient lighting.
If you're garaged, they should come on.
But in a carport that's fairly open, maybe not.
This happens to me. When I drive out of the carport, those lights come on within a minute.
My 06 C6 sits under a carport. The headlights come on when I first start the car (during the daytime), but none of the dash lights do. After I pull out of the carport, the headlights go off and the dash lights come on, but sometimes it takes half a block before they change.
Where is your car parked and are you talking about daytime or nighttime when this happens?
As posted above, I believe the instrument lights come on bright if the car believes it's in daylight, or dim (too dim to see except at night) if the car thinks it's nighttime.
If the instrument lights can't be seen, look to see if the little green headlight symbol in your cluster is illuminated. Then, let us know what you discovered!
