You live in Detroit and "the heat" caused this damage? I'm guessing that's not the case unless you park your car under a heat lamp at night. Something else caused it, or else it's some kind of freak part quality issue. Do you have pictures?

Very common....they go away when the plastic cools. Or some have said a tiny needle puncture will let the air out and the bubble can be pressed flat.

Edit: Couple of threads:

Yes, fortunately others on here have made me aware of this potential problem.

That's one reason that whenever my car is going to be parked outside for any extended period of time on a hot sunny day, I always put in my windshield sunshade.

Having tinted windows helps as well.

Also, although I have the 'glass' top, I use a headliner during the summer months.

Hmm.. shows what I know. I'm really surprised this is common. I haven't had it happen yet and I know my car gets really hot.

Had this very problem yesterday, parked at work, 95 degrees outside, go out and the passenger side is full of bubbles, freaked me out! Kept looking at it all the way home, wondering how to cure the issue. Went out to the garage this morning and the pillar looked new again, bubbles went away after cooling off, will try out the needle trick next time this happens, glad I did a quick search for this problem, CF members are the greatest!!!

yeah, I have seen it on my old C6, looked like a case of hives This is actually not all that different than door panels bubbling up on C5, apparently the adhesive GM uses is reacting to sun heat with time...

Unfortunately, the worst case I ever saw was on our 2006, and the car was only 5 months old from Museum Delivery at that point.

That sounds like a real bad luck. Seems like the design of the pillar trim has a lot to do with it. The trim has a large flat surface pretty much facing the windshield, thus, sucking in all the sun it can....Not sure what GM was thinking.

I've had this on my 2008... as the others mentioned it's a common problem... ridiculous though, such a dumb issue for an automaker to still have, I mean how many years were cars made with A-pillars? only since the beginning of frickin' time. You would think this is one area that would be problem free...

the pillar trim is just glued on and stapled. If it was applied under vacuum, this would not be happening because all air is displaced this way but apparently GM decided to do it the old fashioned way, thus, this keeps happening.

I am on my second A-pillar on the passenger side. The dealer replaced the first one under warranty and it took some time but the second one is doing the same. Driver side is ok...go figure? Ours is a Black 2006 with Z51 Option and tan interior..

This happen to me today. Both A-pillars and the piece in between them, along the top windshield frame.
