Default Panic Alarm question

If I intentionally or unintentionally set off the panic alarm on my '08 coupe, the only way I can stop the honking is to get in the car and start it. No amount of pressing other buttons on the FOB will make it stop (as it says to do in the owners manual).
Any suggestions?

Definitely, the FOB button should stop the alarm.

Has it behaved this way since new? Or is this a recent development?

Might be a FOB malfunction... try using your spare. Couldn't hurt to replace the FOB batteries (but I doubt that's the problem).

I agree--mine has done this since new. However, I can turn off the alarm by pushing the "accessory" (OFF) button on the starter. I haven't tried the #2 fob yet.

You guys need to push and hold the alarm button till it goes off. I thought the same thing when I first tried my alarm.

BINGO. Works fine.

Thank you! Why don't they state that in the owners manual?

It happened to me too in my previous 2008 coupe, I was taking the top off in the garage with the doors open and must have accidently pressed the fob alarm button in my pants against the hatch opening, my ears were ringing from the noise! I pressed the fob button at first, but it did not stop it, I then closed the doors and that stopped the alarm.
