Default Windshield Film

I constantly have to keep cleaning some sort of film off the inside of my windshield. Every week, it never fails. I don't smoke and nobody has ever smoked in my Vette. Does anybody else have this problem?

Try using a Mirafiber cloth (not to be confused with a Microfiber cloth) to remove the film. I have very good luck with these cloths.

Default film

The film comes from the materials that is used in the interior, especially the seat foam. If possible when in your garage leave the windows open, the problem will gradually lesson.

No, No , this is not going to happen,

Its a film yes and yes it comes from some of the synthetics from the build. However, what happens is we clean the outside much more often than the inside.

It's referred to as "out-gassing" and is generally a by product of sun, heat and the vinyl products in the car - -oftentimes the dash covering.

As noted, it will diminish in time - - -you might also try some of the protectant sprays and treatments from Meguiers and others.

Thanks for the replies, guys. I've been using Aerospace 303, when I clean the cabin. I guess I'm not using enough of it.

Clean your wndows w/ glass cleaner & newspaper. It will help the film form in a more uniform manner and not make your windows look streaked as it builds.

But yes, it is inevitable...for a while at least. My '08 still does it.

I have looked at several stores and can't find the "Mirafiber" cloths. Can you direct me to where you get yours. Mailorder?

Here is the only thing I've found that totally and completely cleans the film off the inside of the glass! It actually polishes it clean... glass looks like it disappears. Not inexpensive but then good things usually aren't.... I use it outside too for the cleanest glass possible...

Finally, a glass cleaner and polish that really works!

You will think your glass disappeared!

Excellent on chrome and stainless, too!

We searched for years trying to find a glass polish that really works as advertised. Frustrated with the results, we decided to engineer our own. Introducing Z-12 Clear-View Glass Polish™. Formulated with mild abrasives, Z-12 Clear-View Glass Polish™ deep cleans and polishes all glass surfaces with ease. It quickly removes acid rain spots, hard water spots, road film, stubborn bird stains, and that annoying interior glass film. Z-12 Clear-View Glass Polish™ is so effective, it even removes fine to medium scratches. We have yet to find a stain that Z-12 Clear-View Glass Polish™ did not remove from glass. It leaves glass crystal clear and sparkling.

Will not distort glass.
Great for restoring old windshields.
Can also be used to clean and brighten chrome and other metal surfaces.
For hand or machine use.
Not for use on aftermarket window tint, coated glass, painted or plastic surfaces.

I'm a dedicated Zaino user, but will the abrasive in the glass cleaner affect the windshield of those with a heads-up display? I understand the windshield is different is some way.

Default Zaino Glass Polish

I have tried the Zaino Glass Polish and it works the best on the inside and outside (gets rid of water spots on the windows!) of the glass.

It does not solve the problem, as in a few weeks the film returns, but it sure gets it clean for several weeks.

Over 2 years of using the product and no problems with my GM Hud windshield. To be honest I don't think the HUD special windshield is even needed.. simply over kill by GM. Anyway no problems...

Any dampened microfiber cloth will do an excellent job of removing the film without leaving streaks.

I've found that the GM spray foam glass cleaner works very well, and Stoner's comes in at a close 2nd.

The GM cleaner is approved for plastics including the transparent top, and also is safe for the plastic lens on the nav, gauges, etc. I now use it for everything clear, inside and outside.
