I believe the GM RPO Code for the wheels is on the glove box sticker.

That should help DT match them.

Had similar experience at America's Tires. I showed the manager the scratch on my previous BMW 330Ci. He offered to have the wheels refinished, I said no. So he said we'll order you new wheels. Those OEM BMW costs close to $900 each at the time.

Since he was pretty cool. I said you've been pretty nice to me, just refund my tires money and we'll call it even. And he did.

Two months ago when I had my tires replaced, I called the manager and said I don't want my wheels scratched. He said we use plastic wheels something that prevent most scratched. He even called in his best guy on a saturday. When they were done, I saw these little marks on the wheels and freaked out. He reassured me just clean them with rags they come off. They did, thank god.

day two of the wheel saga.
spent about three hours in there today with no luck.
The wheels that are on my build sheet are not the wheels that are on the car.
The wheels on my car currently are a cyber grAy... or a darker gray anyways. they are a solid five spoke design. they offered a z06 style (split spoke wheel) in a cyber gray. i told him i really didn't care for that wheel design and that if i knew i had to pick a new set of wheels that it wouldn't have been them. mentioned something about the ZR1 style wheels but they could only get three and it would be 45 days before the 4th one would be in. He was supposed to call at the end of the day and give me a heads up on what was going on.

i recieved no phone call.....
i'm going back up in the A.M. to see why.

im ready to pick a set of wheels off of WCC or this site, call them and get a quote and see if there in stock. and then take the info up there and say here all the leg works done, order them.

i won't do that....... but the thought is there

I've had the same problem twice - once at Sears, and once at NTB.
They offered to have the wheels refinished both times, which I accepted.
The wheels, in each case, were painted.
The refinished wheels looked better than what they replaced.....so everything turned out fine.

Without showing them your car before the work was done they can blame the damage on you. This could be a real problem for you.

I am in the process of getting new rubber this week and I will be showing them my perfect rims to start. The owner of the tire shop is the local Vette club Pres, so his tire techs are sensitive to the Vette.

That's not a bad idea. Have the wheels you want in your back pocket and when he says "I can find a full set" Give him your sheet and you're done.

How do you do this without looking like a huge tool? I'd like to do the same thing when I take my car in but I don't want people looking at me like I'm some jerkoff

well, today i was fed up. i went in and still no progress. they said they couldn't find a whole set of ZR1 replicas. so while he stood in front of me i called WCC. i asked do you all have any ZR1's available to ship today.... Yes in crome hyper silver and black!( thank by the way guys!)

the assistant manager went back into his office and called wcc. he then came back and said that they said they might have a match to my factory wheels. at this point im Pissed! he now needs three or four more days and he needs to take a wheel off to get a part number. then he takes my keys and begins helping other people........

I went to him asked for my keys and said i'll be back in 15 minutes with a quote from GM.
i not only got the quote but i called back to WCC to double check. nope there are no repro's of those wheels, they were a special order from the factory.

I called back to Discount Tire and he basically said that he was doing everything he could to help me and that he had been bending over backwards, i said then why didn't you check with GM for the wheels? he replied that he could get them cheaper than GM's price. i hung up the phone and drove strait over. i walked over to the counter and said that this is a quote for me to get the wheels myself and that i was done dealing with him.
he then repeated i can get them cheaper. my reply as well as the wife at this point was i don't think you understand, we are done here, the cost of the wheels is $1700+ this is the quote i will take a check minus the deposit. he said that he could not authourize that and that no one at that location could. i said i bet your district manager can, would you like to call him or would you like me to?

needless to say the check will be processed Monday.
