I have a brand new 2011 C-6 coupe Grand Sport. When I filled the gas tank for the first time the DIC fuel range read 230 miles. After 120 miles I filled it again with the same results. Has anyone else noticed this in accuracy?

It needs a while to build your average MPG's. It would do the same if you reset your DIC for MPG it will read your current until you get a history of how you drive, it will then average it.
If that makes sense? David
not sure I understand your issue - 230 miles with a full 18 gallons is only a 12.8 mpg average which is very low. would suggest you have an issue with the computer controlling the DIC and a dealer trip is in order. never seen this topic before.

Almost. Unless something has changed in the last few years (not unlikely), it uses the most recent history rather than everything in its past, nor even everything since last reset. That is, it does not reset when other items displayed by the fuel button on the DIC are reset. If you think about it, that makes sense. When you are on the highway, looking for the next station, you don't want it to assume that the grocery-getting miles you started the trip with are the 'real' average. You want it to work on what you are getting now.
If I confiused everyone, or if I'm wrong, sorry....

Well the dealer said everything checked out, but there has to be something wrong. I know there are two tanks, so I hope they are both full and not just reading one. The dealer was really busy, but promised to look into it. I just wanted to know if anyone else had the same problem.

The fuel economy data used to determine fuel range is
an average of recent driving conditions. As your driving
conditions change, this data is gradually updated
automatically.
If the vehicle has been idling for a long time, the range
displayed on the DIC could be abnormally low. The
vehicle must be driven 8–16 km (5–10 miles) to get an
accurate reading.
You will only get that 550 range type mileage if you take a long highway trip. How many miles you have on the car is irrelevant.Around town driving gets you crappy mileage- highway gets you high gas mileage. It's that simple and it's normal too.Mine was up to 400 something when I took my regular trips to the Jersey shore. Now it's 2oo something.19,100 miles on my 08.

B.S.,,,did it on my 08-09,it, in the tank one of the floats.only way to fix it is pull the tank(per dealer) mine have never read over 230.GM has known this for a long time.just another great GM ....P.O.S.
WHATS SO BAD THEY HAVE KNOWN THIS FOR YRS.....like alot of other probs.............oh well......
I appreciate the feed back, I thought I was being too fussy, but after spending 70K and the car is only 2 days old I thought it should be made right. If it means removal of the gas tank however I might live with it. If GM is aware of the problem they should have a fix and the dealers should not blow off a customer. I love this Vette and if this the only thing that goes wrong I'll be a happy camper.
